Lansing mother claims Okemos daycare workers made racist remarks
MEAN, VERY BAD RACISM
quote:
“One of the providers in the facility said that Braelynn stinks because she’s Black, and it’s probably because of the Black products that we use in her hair,” says Smith,
One of the daycare workers also told investigators that another staffer refused to feed or hold Braelynn and would wipe her hand after touching the child.
“She was also the one that made a comment about well she probably stinks because Black people use cooking grease in their hair,” says Smith. “CPS had a portion of the case that they investigated because there were points of neglect. Braelynn not being fed, provider not wanting to change her.”
quote:
“That’s when I learned that, along with some other situations happened, and they were placed on a provisional license with monitoring, and told to do some DEI trainings for their staffs.”
The report mentioned a childcare worker, who was not named, was not the only person referenced in the report. It also included comments from daycare director Madison Sorenson, who was made aware of the comments.
“They told the director, ‘Hey, these comments happened. They happened in the presence of children. What are you going to do about it?’ Her response was, ‘Well, Black people owned white people as slaves before so, I guess it’s okay.'”

Holy hearsay and context Batman

If this happened as reported, it’s absolutely disgusting and infuriating

Which part is hearsay? The verified accusations from the investigation?

Michigan.
Are they sure the worker wasn't of the Islamic faith?

some of the most glaring references of Racism I have seen, has been mostly up north and up the east coast.

Very sad if true. Even sadder is that so often this is fake bullshite, that I am very skeptical of any cries of racism.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say this didn't happen.
I'm also going to bet that there were multiple black and non white children at that daycare that were just fine.
Also, why is this kid the smelly one? There's always one and it has nothing to do with race.

That sounds like something C on Z would do.

This whole article reads like 1996 Onion satire -- down to the fry grease in the hair. How do we make people sound comically racist? Make them wipe their hands when they touch black kids and...oh, make them say black people use rancid grease in their hair? Did she also practice with a bull whip during lunch?

I find most claims of racism these days are fake. They have to manufacture it so they can still play the victim and get their entitlements. All these claims should be looked at with a grain of salt.

Anyone who is mean to a child is a POS.
I caught some flack on here before because I said the younger black ladies at the grocery store always ask to hold my son..and I don't think twice about it.
We quickly realized while quite common in small towns in the South, it is A LOT less common in a city

They love the race but hate the individual. Down south our racists hate the group... But make exceptions for the individual.
You decide which one is worse.

Oh, are we just making up stories now?

They are very bad at their caricatures of "racists".

What?
What does that even mean?

In their minds it will always be about race if a non-white person does anything to a black person that they don’t like or understand.
I don’t think current hair care products are the same, but in the past it could absolutely stink. That ignorant woman putting gorilla glue in her hair didn’t help stop people from thinking they are still using smelly hair products.
The below quote from the manager makes zero sense in context of the only quote the article includes.
quote:
‘Well, Black people owned white people as slaves before so, I guess it’s okay.'”
The solution of DEI trainings doesn’t seem to meet the accusation of race based discrimination and neglect but more about the business not being race sensitive enough or coddling them enough. Article seems to imply something almost criminal in a city and a state that would have very much wanted to play that up and blame racism.
This happened back in February 2023 when parents were notified by CPS making it strange it took parents so long to get a report when it was CPS that notified them of a possible incident with their child.
