We're coming up on the 113th anniversary of the famous ship's sinking, so I thought this topic might be in vogue. Anyway...the random piece of trivia is as follows: Titanic is the only film to win the Oscar for Best Picture as well as the People's Choice Award and Kids' Choice Award for Best Film. That film had appeal across ALL demographics when it was released back in 1997.

For those of you who are old enough to remember, you know the cultural phenomenon this movie caused.

It won People's Choice for the same reason.

Seems like Titanic gets a lot of hate on this forum, and I don't know why. Great movie. And it has boobs.

Great movie.

Agreed.

It was a call back to the Hollywood epics of old but was also confronted by some solid competition in L.A. Confidential and Good Will Hunting. I love both of those movies but also love Titanic.

I was a 19 year old male and thought it sucked. So maybe don't put "all" in "ALL CAPS".

Funnily enough, he was very subdued in Titanic.

For me it’s having a first run in theaters of around 10 months in the modern era. It didn’t have a big opening really, but kept building momentum.

Jurassic Park was around a year and a half but that was including second and tertiary runs (I.e. dollar/budget theaters) as well.

I'm The King of the World!!! and screaming ROSE every 3 seconds was subdued? If I'm ever on a huge sinking ship I hope I get an Adderall and have that kind of energy for the whole thing. I was 14 when this came out and I was like we should put this dude at RB

So one line 30 minutes into the movie where he is hella excited to be going home for the first time in years, followed by him screaming her name:

1. So he can direct her to the room he’s handcuffed in.

2. Because he’s angry at her for jumping out of the lifeboat.

3. Because he’s panicked as both Rose and him are flowing down a corridor as water quickly fills it up.

For the vast majority of the movie, he’s very soft-spoken and subdued.

Nah, it won Kids Choice because 10-16 (probably goes older than that) year old girls were obsessed with Leo. Girls in my school were talking about having seen that movie 20 times in theater. And we were 11 at the time.

I was in Kindergarten and my parents took me to see it in theaters. First pair of tits that I remeber seeing.

There will never be anything like. It was still selling out 4-5 months after release. Woman were obsessed with it. You were easily getting laid after taking a girl to see it
