The so called economists predicted doom and gloom on black Monday and are now back tracking with “but Trump this and Trump that” while the meteorologists are getting aroused about the next “severe” weather event they can get everybody worked up about.

I never quite understood this boards' disdain for meteorology. Simply understand it's an inexact science and imagine your life without it.

Hell, we have a 38 page pinned thread about severe weather and every single post has gotten downvoted

Oh economists, easy. I hate when I see economics described as a “science”.

Currently taking an MBA level Econ class and the group me is full of people saying “this is my 6th year of college and this is some far fetched shite”. It’s definitely not a science and I have no idea how someone could make economy-wide assessments with that math.

Most high end economists are basically mathematicians.

Don’t try.
It’s stupid and baseless.

Meteorology is way more predictable. I've never found them to be especially inaccurate, really. Yeah, they can't predict the exact second it rains but all the data they get and model is pretty much as is and they generally get it right. 100 years ago they couldn't even predict hurricanes.

Economics.... it's half-science with faulty assumptions, and half astrology. Economics assumes everyone has the same information, at the same time, with the pre-programmed sense to interpret it all in the same way and that's never going to be true of humans.

That this got equal downvotes is just so weird to me.

I get economists since so many are politically tainted and are academics instead of practitioners.

But dudes will get steaming mad because the models said their house was in the "High" but the F4 hit in the "Moderate" 25 miles away? Or because 4 days out the hurricane is predicted to make landfall 65 miles from where it comes in? It's bizarre.

They're both bums. Limbaugh nailed it YEARS ago when he labeled them the "drive by media," due to the damage they do to the average uninformed idiots that listen/watch their drivel.

my high school science teacher told us all meteorologists have to do is call their friends a few hours east and ask what the weather is and predict that for the next day
