Saints are the betting favorite for Sanders at 9

PFT and others are talking about how the Saints are the betting favorite to draft Sanders at 9.
This leads me to think one of two things:
1. Either the Saints have done an outstanding job putting out a smokescreen about their intentions. When teams who are not #1 are this obvious about a player, it’s usually a smokescreen. Or, the Saints are so unaware of how the pre-draft subterfuge works that they are just blindly communicating their intentions to all their competitors (a la Ditka and Ricky Williams).
2. If the Saints are the backstop to keep Sanders from taking a big slide, why draft him at 9? Trading down anywhere from 11-19 (before the Steelers) seems to be the wisest way to play this. If you trade down, and the Steelers trade up ahead of you….oh well. You have only lost out on a developmental project with average tools ( the next Bridgewater/Carr/Mac Jones/ Andy Dalton).
Drafting him at 9 seems like paying $4.00/gallon for gas when the gas station next door is selling the same gas for $2.50. Why pay more unnecessarily?

That would be fricking stupid……but it would definitely make the moronic Saints fans in NO happy

I don’t think your 3 day riot would mean anything to the saints

It amazes me how stupid Saints fans are…….they want this kid purely because he’s Deion’s son and the media overrates the frick out of him

We have a QB. Like him or not Carr is here in 2025 and at least going into the season would be favored to start. Maybe you ease Sanders in like the Falcons did with Penix.
However I don't see the Sanders Show accepting a situation where he isn't instantly featured as the face of the franchise. They're going to demand that attention. Thst spotlight. I see them demanding a trade if he's not the guaranteed starter as soon as he's drafted.

Nah, he’s shown some talent and has
Had to play with a mediocre Oline. I think he has some potential. I’m not sure of his ceiling, but I don’t think his floor is a disaster.

Field Yates just said on GetUp that he doesn’t see Sanders getting past #9 and that the Saints love Sanders.
Just passing along what I heard.

Because it’s not the time of deceit and lies between teams.

The last thing the Saints need right now is a franchise QB. Get a good defense and some serviceable offensive players and try to stay competitive till we offset the financial debacle.
I'm good with a few season of plug and play QBs like Dalton was.

When a team doesn't have a franchise QB its never the last thing they need

The catch-22 is that if you are competitive, then you are unlikely to be in a position to draft a franchise QB (absent a costly trade).
I don't know if Sanders is the guy. But if the Saints think he could be and they also think they will be mildly competitive for the foreseeable future, then it makes sense to take a QB while you have a top 10 pick vs. passing and picking in the 13-18 range where franchise QB prospects will unlikely be available to draft. If you make the pick and it is a "miss", then it's not at a prohibitive cost. Worst case scenario is you are a bad team and in 3 seasons you have a high draft pick to try again at the QB spot. However, IF Sanders is they guy, you pass on him, and spend multiple years in NFL purgatory with the likes of Carr, Dalton, etc, never being good enough to win anything, but never being bad enough to pick high in the draft, you'll be kicking yourself for not taking a QB when you had the chance at 9

Let's say you take Sanders at 9...
Getting talent on Offense has to be a priority the rest of the draft right?
