You don't see too many of these on the road anymore.

I guess that rotary engine was a colossal POS

I have an '84 GSL-SE with 77K that's fun to drive around in summer.

Newer RX-7 got fugly and less reliable.

The front of it kinda reminds me of a Saturn.

Compared to the 3rd Gen FD RX 7 it certainly is not much of a looker.

That RX7 was a beautiful car.

Those rotary engines really needed a good bit of care and even under best condition, you will likely need a engine rebuild at some point. They had great linear power band though

Oh I have zero doubt they are fun little cars to drive, I actually like the RX7's lines. It's just the wankel typically has to be rebuilt before 100Kmiles and are a bitch and expensive to rebuild.

Apex seals

Usually it's the lack of apex seals that's the problem with a rotary engine.

How many times did they have to revise their power numbers for the RX-8?

You gotta check that oil religiously on an rx8. Most owners didn't so they turned in piles of scrap.

Had an '86 RX7. I always used 20W-50 and checked religiously. I think it made it to about 125k no problem before I sold it.

***What I liked about it was it loved to be redlined until you heard the notification beep. After a good warmup, treat it like a sports car.

Oil consumption, poor gas mileage, and high emissions.

The positive is nobody has every been able to get one to drop a valve.
