I can't even count the times in conversations in my life with people who think leftist economic ideology doesn't necessarily have to go the way of Cuba, USSR, Venezuela etc. The ones who completely fail to understand that becoming totalitarian isn't a bug in these system, it's simply an inevitable feature.

They always, for decades have run with the "but Europe blah blah blah" shite. This is because they've never understood WHY totalitarianism is inevitable in these systems. In very simple terms it's this.

In our system, as an example, When Woolworth, Kodak, Blockbuster, K-Mart, etc etc etc started to suck, they died.

Governments that start to suck don't die. They ENFORCE!

The inevitability that eventually, if things went a little wrong, that the government would turn to arresting people who complain about it was 100% predictable.

Americans have very short term memories and combined with leftists having absolutely no foresight, you get dangerous naivete.

There was a time when the median IN THIS frickING COUNTRY was singing the praises of the "USSR Success"!!!

As Jack Posobiec says in his book Unhumans, socialism/communism isn't an ideology, it is a tactic. It is a means to an end, and the end is the same every single time. There's no one out there actually practicing this as an ideology, that never happens, instead it's the same outcome of totalitarianism, no rights, misery and suffering.

Central planning fails because governments are incapable of effectively allocating capital. They don't even try to allocate capital for a positive ROI, instead they use political calculations to decide how money is spent. The totalitarianism results from economic failure, which is the inevitable result of central planning.

And can you believe that in America you can get deported for signing an editorial criticizing Israel’s tactics? And if someone at a university criticizes Trump, the administration will cancel research grants? You are so right. Free speech is under attack.

That isn’t what happened. In fact Rubio specifically said that isn’t what happened. How can you be so ignorant in so many different topics?

The reason it's getting worse is that outlawing 'bad speech' has no bright line. What is OK with one person is offensive to another. So, they are currently getting very strict with determining what is 'offensive.' Whether it gets worse or better depends on who they elect. There hasn't been much public backlash until the last year or two in most of these countries. Trump is increasing the number of Europeans who are falling into the 'populist' category. It's in the latest chapter of the book I'm reading on immigration.

Here's one that was in the news last week:

While the current charges have not yet been revealed,

quote:

While the current charges have not yet been revealed, Khalil will soon receive a Notice to Appear (NTA) providing the alleged grounds for deportation under which ICE attorneys will seek to obtain an order of removal. These ICE attorneys, under the Office of the Principal Legal Advisor (OPLA), bear the burden of demonstrating by clear, unequivocal, and convincing evidence that an individual is deportable from the United States. When they seek to do so for a legal permanent resident, they must assert certain grounds that would cause an individual to lose their green card. One cannot simply be stripped of their residency, even by Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

quote:

n general, the provision that permits the secretary of state to initiate removal proceedings is seldom used, and there are limitations. For example, individuals cannot be deported solely because of past, current, or expected beliefs, statements, or associations if such matters are lawful within the U.S. However, those limitations do not apply if the secretary of state personally determines that the alien’s continued presence would compromise a compelling U.S. foreign policy interest. In order to make such a determination, Secretary Rubio is required to notify the Senate Judiciary and Foreign Relations Committees and the House Judiciary and Foreign Affairs Committees, though there is no indication that he has done so.

Europe was built on tyranny and oppression. America was among the biggest events that broke their bloated monarchies and their dabbling in enlightenment hasn’t been that long, historically speaking.

Some tyrants have played a long game and now they’re retaking control.

Beautiful. You are ignorant to the facts. Rubio specifically stated that she was not revoked because of her op-ed. He stated she was revoked because she participated in a “protest” that was violent, caused property damage, and blocked other students from moving freely.

And FYI…you don’t have to face charges to be removed. Removal is an administrative procedure. You need to get your facts straight.

Most constitutions in Europe don't have any freedom of speech or to bear arms.

In most of those countries, the aristocrats were never truly defeated.

Not an American citizen. The left wants to make citizenship meaningless. Not a citizen, go ahead and vote anyway, we don't care. Not a citizen, run wild trying with your protests on our soil like you own the place.

Was she charged with any crime?

This is the same crap that was used against J6ers. Punish the political speech by exaggerating the trespassing and property damage aspects. OMG, the protest was "illegal!"
