St George’s most difficult challenge is the anti-tax position of republicans (except Jeff Landry). I anticipated difficulty getting a consensus on how to pay for services. But I didn’t anticipate resistance to passing a home rule charter.

They are sure making it harder than it could be.

Democracy in action. Folks who give a damn didn’t like what was presented and told the leadership to start over.

The swindle would have been letting it pass

The people running St George are fricking grifters with all the bloat they want.

Jeff Landry is a corrupt fake. He will only push things that help his billboard plaintiff friends.

Explain this please because I haven’t heard much about this. I was on board for everything with the city from both petitions, the vote, the appointed mayor/chief/council (except Ryan Heck), etc.

But then they did the pretty radical pay structures for elected officials and that was disappointing.

Now this charter…? What’s going on? Is the honeymoon over?

Exactly..Driving through North Baron Roo-edge today I saw where all of our tax dollars went...Take a ride down Florida past the new Amazon camp towards downtown and you will know why......the rest of BR got litterally no attention or investment whatsoever.

Have no idea what your point is, but driving down FL is not NBR...now I went to Tony's today and that whole stretch of Plank is getting major roadwork..for the record

You do not see advantages in incorporating to gain some independence from a govt controlled by the city of Baton Rouge which was taking more taxes out of StG area than putting revenue back into it and also pushing the trash from BR into it??? What about the advantages of the 5th most populated city gaining some independence from the rest of the unincorporated and more rural parish to be able to be able to control and/or add different services in the future without requiring entire parish to approve???

All anti-StG talk about charter issues ignores that the vote to take over the sales tax from the city-parish govt went smoothly even as disinformation by BR & anti-StG kept trying to push it as already raising taxes.
