They’re 5th in the west at 44-20, had to be something else going on?

WOW.

I have been impressed with Taylor and thought for the longest he's been doing well. I'm not extremely knowledgeable though on reviewing coaches. I just noticed his teams always play hard, the guys like him, and he builds good team chemistry. 1 terrible month did him in so something else was going on behind closed doors.

Makes no sense to do this mid-year without a particular reason. And the Grizzlies are 44-29

It's not even mid year - the regular season ends in two or three weeks. He must have choked a player, embezzled $100,000 or propositioned an underaged employee.

They fired Jenkins because Ja was pissed about his no guns in the locker room policy, per sources

44-29 (I know it's just a typo but still a big difference), we have lost every important game for months, and the team is clearly worse than it was 2 years ago. I'm not sure this is going to work out, but it doesn't feel like we are missing out on anything by not staying the course.

That said, doing it at this point in the season is odd.

As maybe the lone Grizz fan here this is surprising yet not unexpected at all.

Yeah, we're 5th in the west but look at our record against the contenders.
We started strong but the defense has been dogshit the past month and a half.

There's a few of us. And yes, we have been quickly falling to the play in positions and a first round exit felt guaranteed.

OKC broke them last night with a Thunderswarm!!!

Thunder finished on a 28-3 run in 6 minutes.

At the 7:41 mark of 4th, Griz were ahead 99-97.

At the 5:08 mark it was 99-109.

At the 3:24 mark it was 102-116

At the 1:41 mark it was 102-125

I don’t like in season firings mostly. What it does is tell a potential new coach is they can do same to you.

At least wait til end of season especially with playoffs coming up and they are soundly in them.

Must be some internal or locker room turmoil public is not aware of.

The last 4 years he’s 178-141. If you take away last year with Ja Morant missing all season, he’s averaging well over 50 wins a season the last 4 years. The NBA is a joke.

I've been to a few games this year myself. Im a fan. I'm just not a big analytics guy and really can't judge why we are playing bad. I just didn't go straight to thinking coaching was the issue.

You are not alone!!

At any rate... I have no problem with firing him. He was gone after the season anyways.

Keep him... lose in the first round of the playoffs then fire him

vs.

Fire him... maybe that lights a fire under the team, who he'd already lost, and they go further.

Won't play players more than 28 or so minutes, doesn't adjust rotations in game, and what's their record against other playoff teams?

Replacement will be Tuomas Iisalo.

Regular season wins are fun but what’s his playoff record.

9-14 the last 4 years. This isn’t the Lakers or Celtics you’re talking about. It’s the Memphis Frickin Grizzlies. Making it to the Western Conference semifinals is impressive with that organization.
