More common than you think. Iranian grad students are at UL and LSU as well. I met some last year in Lafayette and they wanted to work for NASA after college.

I can vouch for that. But there was one (seriously) that started with the radical thinking. Not everyone is a spy or a plant. Many do just want to get out of the muslim society.
