I've never understood the allure of airport lounges and I fly more than 90% of the population.

I get to the airport 30m before I board, by the time I get through security, grab a water for the flight, and walk to my gate, we are boarding

Why anyone would want to hang out at the airport, much less pay to, is beyond me.

If you've ever had a long layover or delayed flight, you will appreciate the lounge

I don't book layovers, always direct...

If flight is delayed longer than 1-2hrs, I either cancel the trip or book a different flight...

Like I said, I fly more than 90% of the population, in fact heading out in 15 min, and never understood this.

Too each his own. I'll spend my time at home, not hanging out in a lounge.

Premier gold here. Company pays the freight and I get to relax in the United Club while collecting the miles for personal use.

Back in my single days, hooked up with two different chicks I met in ‘the club’

Then you live in a large centrally located hub and probably mostly fly regionally.

The lounges are nice for international flights and across the country when your home airport isn't a major hub, for as said layovers generally speaking.

Given how crowded these supposedly VIP airport lounges are these days , I’m not shocked They’re having to raise the price to kick some people out the group.

I’ve had the lowest tier United card for forever, great to stack miles on and it’s been 95 bucks for probably 15 years, so not surprising

I know you meant nonstop, but I'm with you on your entire rant. The lounges are a pain - and if you are managing your trips properly, should rarely if never come into play.

I love an airport lounge. Especially on international flights it’s essential.

Got stuck in SLC trying to get back to DFW during ice storm, being in Delta lounge with access to my own agent and not in some line, made it priceless.

I’m also not a big fan of the airport Lounge/clubs.

That would be a benefit I’d appreciate. Other than that I find clubs to be way too crowded and somewhat pedestrian.

Biggest time it comes into play is layovers and delays, which I’m extremely thankful to have access. Otherwise it is not fun to be stuck in an airport.

You don’t fly in cold weather cities. Love to have 45 minute layovers, but weather can and will delay 50% of flights. We alway look for 2 hour layovers “just in case”.

I definitely don't mind arriving at the airport 10 minutes sooner to pop into the club lounge to grab a specialty coffee or drink if I'm flying with someone. Certainly not worth paying for though - I only use them if I have a perk through one of the CCs. Also, as mentioned, they are a good fall back if you run into flight delays. In summary, not worth paying for and the increase in cost of the premium CCs aren't justifying it

As Baldona said, while you may fly a lot, your flight patterns are unusual. Most of the general public is flying to destinations that require a connection. While at said connecting airport, if your flight gets substantially delayed, cancelling the trip or booking a different flight isn't exactly a reasonable alternative for most people.
