MANDAN, N.D. (AP) — Environmental group Greenpeace must pay more than $660 million in damages for defamation and other claims brought by a pipeline company in connection with protests against the Dakota Access oil pipeline’s construction in North Dakota, a jury found Wednesday.
Dallas-based Energy Transfer and subsidiary Dakota Access had accused Netherlands-based Greenpeace International, Greenpeace USA and funding arm Greenpeace Fund Inc. of defamation, trespass, nuisance, civil conspiracy and other acts. Greenpeace USA was found liable for all counts, while the others were found liable for some. The damages owed will be spread out in different amounts over the three entities.
Greenpeace said earlier that a large award to the pipeline company would threaten to bankrupt the organization.

Great news.

Grosse Pointe Blank early on in the movie there's a scene where he's checkin his secretary played by his sistershe tells him there's an offer to blow up a Greenpeace boat it's in French
This was sometime after they had caught scuba divers with the French secret service or Navy trying to put a mine on a Greenpeace boat
laughed out loud in a theater ,, me and 1 other guy

Just as with all absurdly high jury awards, it’ll get knocked down on appeal and whoever sued them will be lucky to actually recover attorney fees. Like most civil judgments.

We're all hoping it does.

And from what I have read and heard, all of the Leftists camped out and virtue signaling while nearly everything they own is manufactured only due to these pipelines, was they left actual mountains of garbage and toxic debris behind not even caring about the environment.
They left their temporary environment in shambles compared to modern pipeline regulations for protecting the environment.

Yeah not all judges and juries are rigged. But you knew that.

Lawfare is a 2-way street.

Surely you can see the difference in the two matters and not conflate the two to propagate a narrative, right?

Technically “lawfare” has a media component and is focused on process. The lawfare process produces media narratives for political outcomes. That’s lawfare.
This is regular old lawyering.

Good pernte. I still think this case has some lawfare flavoring. But you are correct that Greenpeace legitimately committed wrongful acts and was deserving of being sued on the merits.

Local rail company is hauling the freight and they announce the pipeline will be built. Local rail company's value drops to nothing and Warren Buffett moves in and buys it for a song, given they will have no business, it is quite puzzling.
Suddenly Greenpeace and a few other NGOs show up, along with some indians and start protesting about the environment and how the pipeline is running across their main water source.
One, when they left they left the place literally filled with shat, literal human waste everywhere, so they didnt care about the environment.
Two, that precious water source......there were already two old rusty pipelines running across it.
Just a hit piece by some paid mercenary NGOs so Buffett could make some coin.
Always remember JP Morgans rule. There is the good reason.....save the environment, and the REAL reason.....Buffett making a payday.
