after his DWI conviction and a 45-day suspension in 2022, his pay more than tripled, from $74,000 to $243,000 in 2023.

NOPD personnel files show they faced little to no punishment for acting belligerently or lying during their arrests.

Gallagher found that NOPD’s internal investigations of at least 65 current officers sustained allegations of domestic violence, payroll fraud, sexual assault, and other serious violations. Nine of them were found to have driven while intoxicated, and Gallagher was able to collect videos of five of their arrests.

all found out because some UNO chemistry professor has a wild hair and is investigating these assholes in his free time

It’s hard for me to get a DUI when my car is always getting stolen.

The $169k pay raise was probably meant to help cover his Uber expenses.

The average driver in New Orleans is drunk at a baseline level.

Easily. The NOPD isn’t out there policing this kind of thing. About the only way you’ll get one is by getting in a bad wreck and getting tested.

When is the last time anyone has seen a checkpoint in Orleans?

You’re more qualified to spot DUI’s when you oft engage in the same behavior. This makes sense to me

Opposite. It is hard to get a DWI. No check points and people are rarely pulled over in general. Even getting in a crash won’t always lead to cops showing up or administering a test if they do show up

That is why you get the DUI in marked police unit.

I’ve always said, if you don’t want these guys to drive drunk you’ve got to pay them better.

Do you know how hard it is to get a DUI in Orleans? In 2023 less than 100 people got a DUI. They could rack up 100 in a weekend if they tried

69 was the total for the year, 10 years before that they did 70+ every month
