SpaceX founder Elon Musk on Friday said that Starship will launch by the end of the next year to Mars carrying the Tesla humanoid robot Optimus.

Musk said that human landings on Mars could happen as early as 2029; however, he cautioned that 2031 could be a more conservative estimate.

I often wondered who would be the next Da Vinci, Newton or Einstein. Elon is very much like them - and very different as well. But he is a visionary, a man who dreamed what "could be" and beyond all odds is on the way to making it happen. He's revolutionized the car industry, the space industry, robotics and artificial intelligence. We are witnessing a historic figure that will be talked about in centuries to come. No one will remember AOC or Schumer - they have accomplished nothing.

3 months in that little capsule sounds like hell on earth. Plus, once you’re there, it’s not like you can pack up and leave if shite goes south. Have to wait for the right orbital window.

I’m assuming SpaceX will be sending the crew habitat and all that type of stuff up there before hand to pre-stage it?

We have flight windows that only open up every 2 years. I think the next one is coming up.

I thought it was more like 150-300 days?

Seems like a logical move. I think we've reached the limits on what wheeled rovers can do / find. And while a air drone is novel, there's not much it can do but take pics.

Musk is changing the world and the future of humanity in positive ways.

Every one of the liberals on this board and everywhere else that are doing nothing but bashing Elon and talking shite on him, can go frick themselves.

And I do not mean that metaphorically or allegorically. Seriously, go out, find the largest cactus you can, and fornicate yourself with it until expiration.

Like the moon lots of cargo ships before humans is the way to go. Redundancy.

Humans can’t get past the radiation belts, we aren’t allowed to go anywhere

The left-libs are JEALOUS that Elon is not of their side, period.

If Elon was supporting a Democrat President, he would the bomb!

HYPOCRISY lives within the liberal minds....

It is. It won’t be tiny though. Starship can carry up to 100 people plus cargo, so if you sent 10 people there would be plenty of room. One of the things he’ll need to solve ahead of a manned flight is solar radiation.

That's it.

Elon's not really even a conservative. He's a constitutionalist, believes in limited gov't, & common sense governing.

There's absolutely no reason for them to hate on him other than he supports DJT. If he were a pedocrat, they'd fawn over him.

I would think he would send a crew of robots there to construct habitats.

Indeed. So that people understand it, even though Mars receives significantly less solar radiation than Earth, it can't deal with it as well. Thin atmosphere and the lack a global magnetic field still makes higher radiation levels on Mars than Earth.

I know it's a dumb question but why doesn't Elon build a station of whatever on the Moon first? Also I wonder if there's some equation how much water is needed for every 10 people to sustain on Mars and how he gets that water there?

Mars has little to no magnetic field. Human habitation is not happening.
