My one gripe about Jay Johnson

And it’s trivial as hell, I get it.
I just wish he wouldn’t jump the gun so quick on changing game times because of weather. I know sometimes it ends up being the right call but like yesterday, it was a terrible call. It never rained. I know the stadium had a nice crowd but it would’ve been fuller had they kept the 6:30 time.
I get making those decisions for regionals when it pertains to pitching but for regular season games, I wish he’d just relax a tad.
I’ll step off this box now. Thanks.

Yes and the opening games each year being in the middle of the day is ridiculous. There is zero consideration for the fans when you brag about having the best fans in the country. I mean changing for weather is one thing but can we not have an “opening night.” That used to be a big deal. Now it has no spark

Youre upset that they took the best information available and made an informed decision to make sure the game was played. Let that sink in. Thats what this boils down to.
Jay wants to e sure the game gets played, with as few interruptions as possible.

Y’all still haven’t figured out that all he cares about is getting the games played. He doesn’t want cancellations or delays burning pitchers or limiting at bats. Take leave if it’s during work. Otherwise watch on your phone.

The same people that would be griping if we missed a super regional or SEC championship by one game that was rained out. The man knows what he is doing, sometimes we have to be flexible as fans. He will win multiple national championships here so I don’t question his decision-making.

He is doing what is BEST for the TEAM & PLAYERS.
Nothing else matters!

My gripe would be that he can’t coach football and basketball too.

Should be the “magic moment”
Posted on 3/15/25 at 12:11 pm to TackySweater
The magic moment seems fun and funny for the players. I don't see an issue with that.

You dare question Jay? You think Jay gives a shite about your entertainment. He’ll lock the gates to the Box and take the cameras out if he wants. Whatever it takes to win

I bet he consults with meteorologists in some form. Just a guess. I doubt he makes the decisions in isolation.

You know what? I agree, we should fire him and find a coach that can!

When did I ever say we should fire him? Good Lord, there are some soft people on here

Johnson has repeatedly said his main objective is to get full, nine inning games played to their conclusion. He doesn't want to play start-stop-start-stop games.
Here is Antoine Duplantis' reaction to such a game (Mississippi State vs. LSU super-regional-2017) when the game was put into a rain delay for the third time as he was coming to bat.

Good coaches don’t care about this lol. Maybe he’d flinch if it affected regional attendance but I can guarantee he doesn’t care about the opening night fan experience
