If we do get it passed it will have to be in 2026. They are very popular. I like no tax on OT because that will increase productivity directly. It's also harder to cheat. Tips can be manipulated a lot easier.
But for any of this to have a chance DOGE will have to find at least $1T in cuts.

The GOP is working on a reconciliation bill that will include these tax cuts, along with making the 2017 tax cuts (expires end of year) permanent. This process allows them to bypass the 60 votes needed in the senate.

Here is the reality: we already have historically low tax rates and an exploding deficit and debt.
Cutting taxes is regarded if you are serious about getting the debt and deficit under control.
Taxes must be raised and spending slashed drastically. The math is the math.
No amount of cope or hopium changes the math.

Taxes do not need to be raised. Spending needs to be slashed drastically. And then spending needs to be slashed moar.
Selective tax cuts that only affect this group or that group are wrong. It is exactly what has gotten us into this IRS hell we live in now.
A flat tax is simple and fair. If that can eventually be lowered or eliminated great.
It is beyond ridiculous that YOU (in many cases) are forced to hire someone to fill out your taxes so that the gov't can take what you owe. Ridiculous that the tax code is so freaking full of exemptions, child tax credits and married filing jointly etc. But I digress.

The problem is that everybody wants action until it lowers their standard of living. "Cut my taxes, save my job, keep my social programs uninterrupted, keep mortgage rates low and the stock market high, and, oh by the way, I'll need an affordable new car next year." Meanwhile, fixing this disfuntional economy will most likely lower the standard of living, as measured by consumption, for just about everyone for a good long time.

I’m very excited that the government might not tax my earnings, that they’re returning to me, that they forced me to pay them, that they said would never be taxed when social security was first pitched.

I’d be fine with something more realistic. Whatever is found by Dodge and saved, just raise the standard deduction by that amount per household.

The Trump administration needs to talk more about " if we dont cut waste and fraud in govt, we have to raise taxes. The company is going broke. I do not want to raise taxes on your b/c of what the biden administration did."
