Did we get anything accomplished with this bill?
It looks exactly like last years budget -with a slight increase.?

Explain it to me like I am the uneducated high school boomer that I am. Budget Info website

Did Congress just waste another 9 months of our lives?

Feels like it, but honestly I'm comfortable with kicking it down the road this time. It's a little early and DOGE is still at the beginning of its efforts. Let them eat for a while to compile a strong portfolio of supporting evidence, then they can move with a purpose on the budget and make comprehensive, long lasting changes.

For the first time in decades, I trust the people in charge... mainly at the top. I wish I better understood, but I have peace knowing they are doing what they think is best.

I think a few things happened.
Trump called Schumer's bluff.
Trump has more time to continue his plan. A shut down would have allowed more rats to scurry. He needs the bureaucracy active so the corruption can revealed further.

Yes.

But this wasn’t the make or break budget, the next one is and my understanding is Trump can choose whether to actually allocate some of the spend so I’m not freaking out too badly this cycle.

So, you aren't willing to give Trump and his team 6 months to put forth a much better spending bill? That's what he has promised, but you think he's lying?

It will happen again in 6 months. The “principled” conservatives will claim it doesn’t cut enough and the moderates will balk that it cuts too much; nothing will get done. But don’t worry if we could just elect a couple more Republicans then next time we will really get things done lol

If Trump were to sign an actual budget I'm 110% certain Dem's would find a federal judge to block it with a TRO in less than 14.3 seconds.

This gets us to the end of September which is the end of the Federal fiscal year. This has always been Trumps plan.

Extend the CR with some additional spend to get us out of the Biden era, while beginning to reduce government head count and waste. Then, pass an actual spending bill for the first time since 1996, to begin reducing deficit, while giving more power back to the States and reducing Federal taxes.

Wait...what?

How is continuing/increasing the printing going to "get us out of the inflation"?

Yes, and no.

Big, beautiful reconciliation is coming and should take care of a lot.

Regular order/appropriations will proceed.

Are you advocating to shut it down?

Trump mentioned this like 2 weeks ago. CR as usual this time. Each department is supposed to have their proposed 8% cuts submitted in the next few weeks. So by September I believe (or whenever the next CR or reconciliation is), we are supposed to start seeing the cuts in action.

Changing it a helluva lot faster than anything I have seen in the last 40 years.

But will it be lasting change? Will it last after the next Democrat gets in office?

Never trust Congress! Keep a close eye on them in the next few months.

I think overall there was a slight decrease to the budget. Very slight. But even holding steady is a start.

It's a small win, but a win is a win.

i can wait also, but it sure would have been nice just to cut 1-2% across the board. Does not seem like a tough thing to do.
