It’s just comic burnout. They did amazing with the infinity saga. But then it was just done for most. Although I did enjoy Spider-Man’s.

Why? He’s part of the problem. He pushes this stupid agenda nonsense just as much as the studio does, so he gets what he deserves. I’m simply enjoying watching them all fail

It's not really that with this one IMO. To me it's more that Mackie isn't Captain America (really). Whether Disney wants to admit it or not, Chris Evans is Captain America, so any other iteration of that just isn't gonna work (or at least not for a long time). I'd be willing to bet that if Chris Evans was in this, it would have done a lot better.
I can't speak to the writing or the story because I haven't seen it, but I know that the trailers and commercials I've seen for it are completely uninteresting and uncompelling to me.

Captain America is my favorite MCU character. I was excited about the Falcon & the Winter Soldier series.
I am unbelievably underwhelmed by the prospect of this movie. I'm sure I'll eventually catch it on Disney+, but I'm not bothering seeing it in the theater.
I'm not sure I've caught a movie in a proper theater since GotG 3.

MCU fell into a trap when the storyline becoming more ridiculous the longer it runs. There is always a new enemy that is even more powerful than the last, rinse and repeat.

The studio refuses to hire talent which knows or has any interest in adapting the source material. They simply want to build a house of cards upon the foundation which others built before & want to do it as cheap as possible. Shortcuts, filler storylines for a “modern audience “ because they don’t want to be bothered with catering to a dwindling (in their opinion) fan base who knows & cares about comic book lore.
* ETA - Ironman wasn't a top tier character. But a well made movie and great casting of RDJr launched an entire franchise. No one would have picked freaking Ironman to launch a decades long industry of comic book hero movies. And yet, here we are.

ESPECIALLY not in 2007. We take for granted that Stark is the center of the universe. Iron Man was not that guy back then. Movie could’ve been exceptionally goofy. It wasn’t.
It’s the same with Star Wars. Make good movies with good writing and actors that take it seriously.

Enough can't be said about they redesigned Tony's armor from the old clunky comic book accurate dive suit looking gear to the 21st century suit we saw in 2008.
I think they went way overboard with the nanotech stuff later on, but whatever the movie needed to keep the story moving along, I guess.

Tony’s suits are a hidden gem if you dig into them. If you look at each iteration it fixes a problem with the previous one that he encountered.
The final suit is fine, the CG had gotten to the point where they didn’t need the clunky suit anymore.

This movie never stood a chance with how the studio handled everything. Mackie deserved better writing.

You need to do better audience.

The audience wants Steve Rogers Captain America.
Say what you want about Captain America being a mantle (it's retarded to have anyone besides Steve be cap in current continuity for an extended period). Sam Wilson Cap is not that popular in the comics. They already knew that and could have avoided this whole thing but the hubris of Fiege and Disney couldn't be denied the virtue or the social points.
Mackie has been solid in the MCU. He was a great Falcon and Sam Wilson. I was so excited about Falcon & WS leading up to it but it was not good.
The difference between US Agent taking up the mantel is because it was always going to be temporary and would lead to building his character. Becoming Cap doesn't do anything for Sam's character other than allow them to tell the "oh my a black man is cap" story. They don't need to tell that story for Sam Wilson to be a solid character in the MCU.
At least Daredevil is good so far. Hopefully FF is ok. Thunderbolts looks kind of fun.

quote:Exactly. No other actor - let alone character* - could step into that role. The combination of super soldier with a heart of gold could not be replicated.

*I had thought that if anyone could, Bucky Barnes could. You need the super soldier part, because otherwise Cap is just a nice guy with tools. US Agent took the serum, but didn't have the character. Bucky had the character, and no one was closer to Steve. It doesn't make a lot of sense in the first place that Steve picked Sam and Bucky smiled at that.
