Louisiana, how does it feel to have the highest state taxes in the nation?

Do state income taxes. At least sales taxes are paid equally by every citizen.

That is just Sales taxes.
If you add other areas sky high property taxes and income taxes, you will realize Louisiana is not that bad when it comes to taxes.
Also state sales tax is only collected on non-grocery items.
Some states sales taxes affect all purchases.
But the Governor is touting that if Amendment 2 passes we will jump to 25 in cumulative tax rankings.

I see the note but it seems like Hawaii was much higher than 4.5% the few times I've visited.

We have a higher tax burden than you'd think given our shitty public output, but our income and property taxes are reasonable compared to others.
Vic Stelly tried to change things to a more income-based plan, but it was not very like and was repealed without really getting to take hold.
