Totally sold out basketball to protect football. Basketball is total trash and football is still second tier.

Woody did not have to sell out basketball. Football would have been the same without selling out basketball.
Pat Forde and Dick Vital scared Woody because they are puppets of the basketball blue bloods and they know WW was on the path to turning LSU in to a blue blood competitive basketball program.

Woody used the report of information already known to LSU beforehand to oust Wade for no cost and hire his own guy. He got it wrong on all fronts. He should be held accountable but since he’s effectively killed fan support for the program, probably not feeling much heat at all.

This ignores of course any wrong doing by Wade. He didn’t “oust” Wade to bring in McMahon, that’s just silly. You can say he blinked, folded or whatever but let’s not pretend there wasn’t an actual reason to fire Wade even if you think he shouldn’t have.

Obviously MM has been awful and bringing him back is nonsensical so SW should be criticized for that but it’s the only other sport that makes revenue so there will be some heat if continues to tank. I doubt he just doesn’t care or actually wants to tank the program. The next hire will be key.

Not even sure we'd be top 5 SEC with Wade. His success came at a time when SEC basketball was literally at it's nadir.

Man i wouldn’t be too upset with football. Sure they disappointed a little bit but still look at other programs.
Let’s use Oklahoma, Auburn, Florida and A&M as a sample. These programs envy us. They’d kill to have the record LSU had the past 3 years. Sure everyone wants titles but consistency is what people want badly. There’s many major programs across the country who can’t hit water if they fell out a boat.
LSU football is never far away from a home run. That’s the reality. They’re always right on the bubble. The floor is high. That’s why when LSU wins a title it’s not surprising for us as Tiger fans but everyone else didn’t see it coming. If any of those 4 programs I mentioned above were to win a title this season it would shock the world.

After last night’s debacle there is no reason to think McMahon can ever turn the program around. Poor player development, coaching adjustments, rotation issues and lack of enthusiasm all contribute to this disaster. Furthermore, why wasn’t Chest and V. Miller at the game last night? Are they on the roster going forward. We saw what happened with Ward. A lack of transparency is evident among those three.
As much as I was disappointed in Woodward succumbing to depose Wade the prospect of retaining McMahon would be a slap in the face to basketball fans. Wade will not return. That bridge has been burned. Scott has a checkered history with brutal long term buyouts signaling a red flag. Let’s hope he gets it right for the sake of mens’ hoops.

I think his gamble w Wade failed. I assume he had no idea or zero probability any state school would take a flyer on Wade.
When McNeese picked him up, I'm pretty sure Woodward knew he was in trouble.
Now he's waiting for Wade to leave McNeese on his own before making a move here at LSU.
