While the outrage was unequivocally similar among people who were angered by the senseless loss this feels different.
It showcases the absolute hate between the right and left who can find no common ground on the myriad of issues plaguing the nation.
What a mess. Remember just a few years ago when the issue was merely some extra money so athletes could feel like they were part of the student body. This ruling is a game changer which compounds an already untenable situation.
Don’t be too harsh on Connecticut. There are a lot of us who prefer the party of common sense over the party of lunacy. Geaux Tigers!!
McMahon has destroyed interest in basketball with rotten coaching and lack of player development. Does anybody think a new cast of characters will make any difference? I hope I’m wrong but they will get out of the gate playing a bunch of patsies and by the end of the season will hover towards the bottom of the SEC. He has killed following the program. He is the Undertaker!!!!
Finally the McMahon-Woodward will be exposed as the death of Tiger hoops. To say money is the problem deflects criticism from the fact McMahon has run off the few decent players committed to the program. If both Millers enter the portal that leaves him with Jalen Reed as the only guy to stick it out. That, with poor development and lack of enthusiasm is a recipe for disaster which will become painfully evident. I hope I am wrong but the sooner change course the better. I have little confidence if Woodward can right the ship.
Why does it matter if McMahon’s coaching runs off talent
Woodward has been bedeviled by McMahon’s wizardry. There can be no other explanation for the worse hire in the last 50 years
There are a lot of valid points in this thread. All warrant considerable discussion regarding their merits. The idea that the talent wasn’t up to par does not hold water. So now we apparently are stuck with McMahon for at least another year. The grim reality facing LSU is we waited an entire generation for a coach who brought swagger not seen since Dale Brown was patrolling the sidelines to the unsettling scenario of Woodward getting it right.
He was a 5 star recruit. Wish him success.
The only thing worse than retaining McMahon is letting Woodward decide the future direction of the program.

After last night’s debacle there is no reason to think McMahon can ever turn the program around. Poor player development, coaching adjustments, rotation issues and lack of enthusiasm all contribute to this disaster. Furthermore, why wasn’t Chest and V. Miller at the game last night? Are they on the roster going forward. We saw what happened with Ward. A lack of transparency is evident among those three.
As much as I was disappointed in Woodward succumbing to depose Wade the prospect of retaining McMahon would be a slap in the face to basketball fans. Wade will not return. That bridge has been burned. Scott has a checkered history with brutal long term buyouts signaling a red flag. Let’s hope he gets it right for the sake of mens’ hoops.
I’d take a stab at Kelvin Sampson.
This season is shot. No more excuses for McMahon. His player development borders on atrocious. No rhyme or reason to his rotations. The only positives are they play hard, his players are better than they’ve given credit for and they’ve cut down on turnovers. Retaining him only postpones the inevitable.

It’s nice to see the team win one, but the fact remains McMahon is not the coach LSU needs to compete in the SEC. They won last night because of Carter’s heroics.
Maybe. How he responds at the end of the season will tell you all you need to know about the future of LSU basketball.
At this point it’s not a surprise they lose. Nor should you be disillusioned by the margin of the loss. What it looked was a boxer who had no desire to mix up after getting pounded thru 7 rounds of a scheduled 10 rounder, and McMahon in the role of the fighters’s manager offering little encouragement between rounds.
You already know where this is headed. The talent level is not horrible but quality depth is a problem. They play hard but lack of creativity rears it’s ugly head all too often. As losses mount does the team quit on McMahon? His rotation leaves plenty to be desired. They are not a well coached bunch.
3-23 3-point shooting is the byproduct of stagnant half court game resulting in shot attempts with the clock running out. Poor coaching

Resurrecting men’s hoops

Watching Tiger hoops can be frustrating as hell. You tune in to last night’s game against Alabama and they come so close only to falter in the end. There are many thoughts voiced on this forum why this is so because every LSU fan wants to see them succeed. They seem destined to land in the cellar in a strong SEC. Player recruitment has been discussed as an area that McMahon has to address otherwise his tenure as head man is dubious at best.
Yet, the talent level is, I believe, is adequate to compete. Sure they can bring in another piece or two but the real problem is McMahon’s X and O’s. The Tigers are long and athletic but once they can’t finish they settle into a moribund half court game that sees them hoisting 3-point attempts late in the shot clock. A recipe for failure. They lack a point guard with vision that could get every one involved. Perhaps Carter can assume the point and get better flow to the offense. Givens has been a disaster and clearly is not ready. A disturbing look at the timeout late in the second half showed an LSU assistant feverishly diagraming a play with McMahon watching and adding nothing. Coaching is the problem.
