Morning folks. Anyone have thoughts about using Livescope for saltwater flats fishing? Perspective mode seems really interesting and I’m curious if it would help locate fish/active areas.

Thanks!

How does it work in murky water?

I've found detonation cord laid out the day before ignition is a fast fun way to target the flats.

Screens and another contraption on the bow sound like a nightmare to me if shallow water flats fishing. I dont have any experience with livescope so I could be completely wrong.

It could work. Scott Martin used livescope in his win last year at Okeechobee in 4ft flats and had it on "perspective" mode to locate fish where you're seeing like a 50ft cone all out around the boat

Not as well in my experience but there is just about an infinite range of settings that one could tinker with to get a clearer picture. Auto works pretty damn well but the denser the water the less clear it will be.

Ought to be as much a game changer on flats as anywhere. I haven't learned to use mine to its full advantage but what I have learned indicates it is by far the most impressive technology in outdoor gear in my 59 years.

That just doesn't even sound fun. Last thing I want to do when fishing is stare down at a screen all day.

Asking in all sincerity, but what DO you look at all day when fishing? Your line? The water? To me there is no difference. It isn't like you're choosing to look at a screen over a naked centerfold. Its one boring thing or the other. At least with the screen you can see the fish you're targeting and figure out if you need to change presentation or not.

Which isn’t fishing anymore, that’s catching.

There’s no way using a cheater box is an ethical way of fishing but you fellas keep telling yourself that.

yeah. And birds, the shoreline, where fish might be hitting, whatever may be swimming around out there (gator, otter, etc). Passing boats, how many beers are left in the cooler, the fish I'm taking off my line, the bait I'm putting on my line. Try just fishing for the fish instead of making it a video game.

A man who won't cheat for a fish don't want one bad enough.

True, that’s why we trick them with bait and a hook in it!

Nature is a whole lot cooler than a screen.

I prefer looking at the water, bait, birds, tides, etc + what the fish are doing/not doing and making my presentation decisions from that.

Not hating on anyone using it, just not my thing at all.
