Have a Gravely 52” HD that’s 10 years old and still going strong. Mow two acres once to twice a week when grass is growing and do not take it easy on it. Been a great mower having only performed general maintenance and replace the battery and a deck belt one time.

I have a 42" Bad Boy Rambler and it's a great machine

Don't go get a shitty stamped deck from HD/Lowes. Go get a solid, welded mower from a local lawn place

I’m on my second Hustler. Had the 42” then moved up to the 60” last year with 0 issues on either, knock on wood.
My only regret is not getting the better seat package, gets a little rough on ground that isn’t perfectly smooth!

I've had a Husqvarna 54" for three years and mow 3 acres. It's a damn good mower for the price (lower 3k). I'm not paying 5 or 6k for one of those elite lines.

I agree with the buy from a local place and not a box store. But I think the welded vs stamped deck thing is over done on this board (in a residential setting). If you're mowing a lawn (not pasture), not routinely loading on a trailer and hauling around, stamped deck is fine.

I've had a Gravely ZTR42 (stamped deck) since '11. Deck is missing paint, but looks good still, with no dents. That's mowing over an hour every week from mid March to November for 14 years. Had to replace 2 spindles and the Kawasaki smokes, but deck is good.

Now if I had to trailer it or mow a rougher piece of property, I'd change my tune.

I have a John Deere 42”. 0 per cent financing was offered. Didn’t have to write big check.

Like another poster has stated, make sure and buy from a local dealer that will also be the one responsible to any service or warranty work. Don’t buy from a big box store like Lowe’s or Home Depot.

There are plenty of solid brands and for the most part they all use the same engines and transmissions.

Go see your local Kubota dealer- 0% financing, and every single one of them has a commercial fabbed deck.

We have about 5 acres to cut and the use the Bad Boy Rambler 42" in the manicured Zoysia. The pasture grass we use the 61" Rebel. The rambler has old school tires, the rebel more of a off road tire.

Both machines are tough as nails. Worth the price of admission. Changed the oil and filters and the only issue every was a broken tension spring on the Rebel. Don't buy the box store brands mowers.

I wish people would pay more attention to the gauge thickness of the deck instead of its fabrication method. I have mower with 3/6" thick (7 gauge) stamped deck that has been flawless for 21 years and counting despite serving as an unintentional brake (when the deck hits a tree) on numerous occasions.
