A federal judge has blocked the removal of a Palestinian activist from the United States while weighing a petition challenging his arrest, court documents show.
Mahmoud Khalil was arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement at Columbia University over the weekend, despite having a green card, his attorney told ABC News, sparking an outcry from civil rights groups. His attorneys subsequently filed a habeas corpus petition challenging his arrest.
"To preserve the Court's jurisdiction pending a ruling on the petition, Petitioner shall not be removed from the United States unless and until the Court orders otherwise," Judge Jesse Furman wrote in a notice ordering a conference for Wednesday morning in the case.
ICE agents arrested Khalil -- a leader in the Manhattan university's encampment movement -- on Saturday night, claiming that his student visa had been revoked, his attorney, Amy Greer, said in a statement to ABC News.
However, Khalil is in the United States on a green card and not on a student visa, Greer said Sunday. Despite informing agents about his legal status, ICE detained him, she said.
President Donald Trump claimed Khalil was a "Radical Foreign Pro-Hamas Student" and said this is the "first arrest of many to come" in a post on his Truth Social platform on Monday.
"We will find, apprehend, and deport these terrorist sympathizers from our country -- never to return again," he added.

Ignore the judge. He doesn't possess this Authority. He can fricking pound sand. This one should be easy. Land his arse in Egypt and tell the judge to suck your dick

Put him in the hole on Rikers Island on bread and water until they figure it out no visitation except by lawyer.

Green cards are not a right they can be revoked.

This so-called student is proud and happy to shout, Death to America!
But he fights like hell and hires attorneys to be able to stay here.

This judge can go and frick himself!!
A green card can be taken away at any moment by immigration for ANY reason!!
The judge has ZERO say on the matter

The judge can certainly have them stay in their guest room.
Did they not offer?

I don't want to see an abuse, but I think the admin has the authority to remove people. The Executive gives you permission to enter and the Executive and revoke that as well. If Trump and DHS are confident they are on solid ground, they can proceed and tell the judge to pound sand.

Good luck with this one, judge... You are NY, tied this to a government agent in NY. Currently, the activist is in LA... You lack jurisdiction

Impeach these judges
Well that, but it's actually valid reasoning if he's here on a green card and not a student visa.
In the mean time, revoke his visa, so the judge has no option but to rule for his removal.

I'm not comfortable with booting someone out of the country for speech, but you made a great point in the other thread.

Note that no “material” support of terrorism needs to be alleged and no formal crime must be committed. Mere speech suffices. No due process, only "reasonable ground to believe, is engaged in or is likely to engage after entry".
This is the issue with these types of protests from the beginning. This statute has been this way since 2005 and has been used in the past to deport a variety of dissidents.

This judicial insurrection needs to be dealt with.

She is here on a student visa which USCIS has the power to revoke at will. This judge does not have the power to stop that. This judge is overstepping his power and should be impeached

I know that this is expected but when doing this at least give the judge details
Not sure how a fed judge has jurisdiction over an immigration court but in typical democrat twisted logic I am sure he explained it
I know it cannot happen now but when every judge gets overturned they need to be impeached for complete bias
