Car Dealership baws - are videos like this true?

Seeing tons of videos lately about how dealerships are not able to move inventory - I myself am in MAJOR sticker shock at vehicle prices. I own a crappy 2011 CRV - 260k miles on it, no ac/heat, no working audio (but I own nothing on it). At this point it feels like golden handcuffs. I feel like a dork driving it but at least I'm not paying out the nose for something per month. FWIW I make pretty good money, dual income household we combined make about $230k/year. I still can't bring myself to set foot on a lot with these prices.

Something doesn't pass the smell test here.

I live in Baton Rouge. What doesn't smell right to you? You can smell my nuts if you want.

I’m seeing inventory for luxury cars/ sports cars sitting a bit. Even wealthy people are scared to spend

I’m not driving something with no AC/heat unless I had no other options

When a new Silverado LTZ Z71 optioned nicely is pushing $70K, one would think that would have a negative impact on sales.
That's not even a High Country or HD.
eta-Just went through the configurator and priced a Silverado 2500HD Duramax High Country up to $100k.

it sucks for sure, AC gave out near the end of summer last year. At this point I can't bring myself to fix the AC because the cost of fixing the AC is about as much as I'd get for selling it

How do you get around a foggy windshield?

I balk at stupid car prices, too, but I draw the line at no AC in Louisiana. Suck it up and buy an HRV or something if you want to stick with a relatively inexpensive Honda.

Smart move. Drive it until the wheels fall off

Fix the AC and keep driving. The bottom is going to drop out of the car market eventually. Buying something new right now seems like a recipe to lose all the value later.

My favorite car dealership videos are the ones where some girl is walking around asking all the employees what their car payments are and they are all saying $800, $900, $1,000 etc a month like it is some badge of honor and a good thing

I have a 2008 forester beater (that I still love), 1999 diesel truck and 2021 Ascent with 80k miles (it’s more beaten up than the forester). No loans.
Every time a start scheming changes I just quit.

Do you know for sure what the issue is with the ac? I went a summer my last year in college with no ac because I was convinced my compressor went out...turns out it was a cheap pressure switch.

Fix the AC, throw a turtlebox on the passenger seat, and roll that sumbitch.
