If you could move the US capital to any other US city, which would you pick and why?

For me, I think I’m going with Fort Worth Texas. Perfect central location with mild winters. This would give equal representation for the country instead of it just being centered around the East Coast.

Do the congress critters and K street go with it?

If so, as far away from me as possible. Maybe Anchorage, AK?

Gotta stay in the 13 colony region but Florida with its huge economic and world renowned status might be the best option.

Florida has great road/rail systems.

Orlando is a potential spot.

Most of the population is east of the Mississippi.

Emporia, Kansas - it's the mid-point between the geographic center of the US (in Northern KS) and the population center of the US (in Southern MO) so it qualifies as smack dab in the middle. Plus there's two interstates running through and plenty of cheap land.

IMO, we should be decentralizing the govt. Different agencies in different places around the country. Regardless of a location for senate and congress they should do most business from their home district. We have the technology to cast votes, have meetings, etc. without everyone being in one place. Force the lobbyists to have to do some major travel.

The fact that the highest income zip code in the nation is in Arlington VA should tell you that the capital needs to be moved.
