Jay is leaning heavily on the strike throwers

Up-to-date as of Firday's game. Our top 6 arms with the most innings have the lowest walk rates.
4 BB/9 is not great, but not terrible in college. Anything over 4 is not ideal.
These are our clear best arms at this moment telling by the K-BB rate.

If you can’t throw strikes you don’t even give yourself a chance.

Hopefully Guidry gives you another.
The real problem is almost all of the others aren’t even close to 4. 6 above 7. Midweek games will test the patience this year.

I also expect to see Chandler Dorsey move up that list + adding in Guidry. Benge has been good, too, and I expect a couple more guys to hit their stride. That's a pretty complete bullpen at that point.

This is a small step up from last year so far but that staff got better as the season progressed. Hope the same happens here.

Grant Fontenot 9.1% is sitting there like

Evans is gonna be a menace. He's already a great closer.

As of now, he is counting on Rizy as one of the top 8. He really likes his stuff and hopes it can come together consistently

Anderson/Eyanson and especially Shores have had some bad luck with balls in play, judging by their BABIP.
Given their stuff they should be more in line with where Schmidt is sitting, in that .260-.270 range, maybe even slightly less.

I'm guessing these numbers don't include HBP

Shores definitely added to the number today. Multiple ground ball singles.

Appreciate you sharing the stats. Always perplexes me when you see some guys on our staff, scholarship players at LSU, and who are now getting NIL $$, who can't pound the zone. From little league/travel ball, to high school/showcase and now in college...it starts with a strike.
