Some of you weren’t paying attention during the Kiffin coaching search and it shows! But in all seriousness, he brought great info during all that.
Everyone ripped into me for asking about how the increased financial commitments to football and basketball could affect our baseball program...well, here we are.
Dude, literally nothing you said contradicts or answers what I'm asking. We all understand this. Just because NIL is "uncapped" in theory doesn't mean it is limitless in reality. If they are promising WW a massively increased NIL budget, that is very likely going to mean less privately raised NIL resources that they can funnel to baseball.
womp womp...but no.

LSU basketball could go make 100 bajillion dollars surplus but that does nothing to increase our rev share. We can use that money to upgrade the Box or some other nice amenities but it can't go towards transfer portal players or other NIL related expenses. You're missing the point.

You are mixing up rev share and NIL.

No, I'm very clear on that. I'm not sure you are clear on how any of this works. Most of the NIL deals are facilitated through LSU's NIL administration. There's only so much privately funded NIL money to go around (i.e. Our Lady of the Lake - as an example - is only going to give a certain amount) and when we promise X amount of dollars to MBB, that can leave less for other sports.

Who cares?? The new administration is worrying about the 2 major sports.

See...this is the attitude I think many of us are worried about.

Will Wade effect on LSU Baseball?

SIAP but does anyone here have any insight into how the NIL commitments we hypothetically are making WW/LSU Basketball affect LSU Baseball's slice of the NIL pie? Should we be worried about baseball losing out in all this?

Lynn Rollins needs to give the LSU softball updates a rest...
William Satterwhite is your backup C. Probably true freshman Ryan Miret behind him as your emergency/RS 3rd.
Regardless of where the pieces fall, the addition of Seaton means we can have genuine open competition at a number of spots. We will be all the better for it.

re: Offensive Line

I get the concern, but play this out...you have your RT in Weston Davis (set aside for a moment whether you like him or not) and presumably your C in Braelin Moore. You also have a handful of guys that I think we all are excited about in incoming freshman Brysten Martinez + Solomon Thomas + Tyler Miller. Those 3 alone could theoretically develop this offseason and complete your line.

But I do think it's likely we'll grab a starter or two + some needed depth. I would think that if we went out and grabbed a proven LT, we should all breathe a little easier.
If he was, you'll never get any official confirmation on it (since that would technically be tampering - he isn't in the portal yet!).

re: Formby commits to A&M

One consideration is that A&M has now taken Formby and Tyree Adams, which could mean a guy like Jacarrius Peak (who was visiting A&M) might not be in play for them anymore. That's one I hope we get in on.

I would feel much better about our OL outlook if we could nail down an anchor at LT. That would give us an established LT/RT/C (assuming Braelin Moore's deal to return is finalized). I would trust we can fill our G spots.

Never know with these kids but had CR been let go then all bets would have been off.

Agreed. And I can't answer with certainty but I know two things.
1. That's a kid that most teams would love to entice to get in the portal.
2. His dad made mention in a recent interview something to the effect that they would figure things out after the season (perhaps someone remembers where that was). I would suspect that had a lot to do with Coach CR.

Don't miss the unwritten part of this - much higher probability of retaining DJ Pickett with this news. :pimp:

Expecting movement here soon. We'll see which direction.
