re: Offensive Line

I get the concern, but play this out...you have your RT in Weston Davis (set aside for a moment whether you like him or not) and presumably your C in Braelin Moore. You also have a handful of guys that I think we all are excited about in incoming freshman Brysten Martinez + Solomon Thomas + Tyler Miller. Those 3 alone could theoretically develop this offseason and complete your line.

But I do think it's likely we'll grab a starter or two + some needed depth. I would think that if we went out and grabbed a proven LT, we should all breathe a little easier.
If he was, you'll never get any official confirmation on it (since that would technically be tampering - he isn't in the portal yet!).

One consideration is that A&M has now taken Formby and Tyree Adams, which could mean a guy like Jacarrius Peak (who was visiting A&M) might not be in play for them anymore. That's one I hope we get in on.

I would feel much better about our OL outlook if we could nail down an anchor at LT. That would give us an established LT/RT/C (assuming Braelin Moore's deal to return is finalized). I would trust we can fill our G spots.

Agreed. And I can't answer with certainty but I know two things.
1. That's a kid that most teams would love to entice to get in the portal.
2. His dad made mention in a recent interview something to the effect that they would figure things out after the season (perhaps someone remembers where that was). I would suspect that had a lot to do with Coach CR.

Don't miss the unwritten part of this - much higher probability of retaining DJ Pickett with this news. :pimp:

Expecting movement here soon. We'll see which direction.

Honestly, this feels like an article that was written some time ago and preloaded to go out. I'm not sure I would read much into that.

re: LSU hires a QB coach

Is this an on-field role? If so, it will be curious how Lane ends up structuring his staff. My understanding was that there are only 10 spots for on-field assistants. With the announced signings yesterday, that already makes 5 for offense and no RB coach or OL coach yet announced. Anyone know how the math on all this works?
This is almost certainly true - Kiffin wants to continue coaching his team. If he told them he's gone, then they would send him out the door. I'm certain he just went into that meeting last Friday and said he is only focused on this team and what are you gonna do about it?

I don’t really doubt that douchescona has sources, but to act like he gets info before anyone else or more info than anyone else is ridiculous.

I get some of you don't like him, but at least differentiate between his editorializing and reporting. You can hate every opinion he has and think he's dumb. I don't care and nobody is trying to change your mind. But reporting first hand conversations with people who WOULD know is just factual reporting. Doesn't matter how you feel about him.

Reading Tea Leaves

Was listening to Moscona on Locked On today and he shared that he believes this is shaping up as an OM/LSU battle with Florida having fallen well behind. He also said that he has spoken with folks who have directly talked to Kiffin and have said that NIL/Rev Share is Kiffin's top priority in this. The reported meeting between the OM AD and Kiffin tomorrow is supposed to entail a new NIL proposal from OM.

It has also been put out there by local and national reporters that LSU is offering NIL commitments of $30Mil+ annually for Kiffin.

What is interesting, however, is that Chris Phillips with SEC Unfiltered is today reporting (supposedly from a trusted LSU source) that OM is preparing an annual $40Mil NIL package in the meeting tomorrow. IF this is the case, I would be surprised to see Kiffin leave OM. Big "IF" however.

ETA: I genuinely don't care if you don't like Moscona. Not asking you to like him. But he's reporting firsthand conversations with the actual people who would know.

I like Blake. He knows ball and he has good inside scoops that he's willing to share. In my opinion he is more forthright than a lot of other guys about what he's hearing.
0%. We don't care where you are from. We care that you embrace the state of Louisiana, our flagship institution, and give it everything you've got to win here.

And when you come here, don't run off the people that make this place special and replace them with guys that are only here for the money or promotion prospects.
I really do quietly like LSU's chances this weekend. I wouldn't bet on it, because I know my homerism can be blinding, but I really do think there's a strong case to be made. Even just objectively, this is the type of game LSU has won under BK, especially in Tiger Stadium at night.

If you win this game, you go into Tuscaloosa with a puncher's chance to do something. Fans will be at least tuned back into hope if we win this weekend, but I don't see that hope lasting beyond a road trip to Tuscaloosa.
You're not wrong...however...it feels much better being 4-5 plays away from what we think we could be compared to feeling as if the whole thing is broken beyond repair.
My 2 cents.

Garrett's injury has hampered his ability to throw the deep ball. Think back to the pick he threw against La. Tech on a ball that was severely underthrown. He makes that throw 99 times out of 100 last season. I think that his torso injury has messed with his timing, accuracy, and ability to handle the deep ball.

Some in here struggle with reading comprehension and wonder how he's healed in 3 days. He hasn't. He has had this since camp and the only reason it's disclosed now is because he's on the upswing. He is finally practicing fully, but BK believes he still needs the upcoming bye week to fully rest it and be back to 100%.

This all seems quite indisputable to me. The clear hope is that re-gaining a deep ball attack will open up much more underneath passing game and the run game.

It also explains why BK has been unwilling to overcommit on the offensive attack because he has seen Garrett underthrow balls and miss on timing and accuracy and knows that we needed to rely on defense and ST rather than try to prematurely force the offense to open up. Clearly the hope is that we'll get there.
