Major, Minor, College. Whatever. Taking mine to a Tulane game tonight and we’re almost to first pitch. You would think we were at game 7 of the World Series with how excited and happy he is. It’s the simple things.

That’s awesome. My mom still has pics of my dad and I heading to our first LSU baseball game together.

It’s hard to beat a minor league or college baseball game for a kid. I think the smaller, more intimate ballparks are a better experience for most kids.

Brought my one year daughter old to the USM vs LSU game in the Hattiesburg regional when LSU came back and won.

She didn't know what she was watching at the time but she constantly asks to go to LSU or Shuckers games now that she's almost 4.

My sons first game was last year when LSU played Northern Illinois last year.

Get him some hotdogs and apple pie and see if you can save him.

Took my son to his first ever game at the Braves on his 5th birthday. Made a sign, danced, got an Acuna jersey for kids day, ate a hot dog, dippin dots, got a ball from bullpen pitcher, ran the bases afree and watched the Braves win. One of my greatest memories of just me and him.

We love going to Gwinnett Stripers games too. Cheap, close and still tons of fun.

I grew up going to Barons games at the Met and still remember watching Frank Thomas, Robin Ventura and even Michael Jordan.

Agree 100% with OP….even if you don’t enjoy baseball, suck it up for your son and he will be on cloud 9

Also, Went to the Braves WS parade with him and got good seats inside afterwards. That was a loooong day but worth it

I sing the praises of a Tulane football game for this too-

No traffic, easy crowds, solid concessions but actually a really solid product on the field still

Heck, take your daughters to a baseball game, too. There are few things in life more enjoyable than spending an afternoon or an evening at a baseball game. If you ever get a chance to watch your team at the CWS in Omaha, go. Drive if you can. A road trip to Omaha with your son or daughter is one of the best experiences in life. Coming back home after winning it all is priceless.

Absolutely. Took my daughter to a few state games at dudy noble last year and she had a blast. She actually paid some attention to the game too.

You are also right about coming back from Omaha after winning it all. Thank the lord we were finally able to get that done in 2021

I love baseball

My Pops used to take us to the minor league games all the time, at least once or twice a month during the season. A while back I was looking through some stuff we had put up and found my stack of little helmet ice cream bowls. I would get the soft serve in the bowl and try to get a full set of major league teams. I never completed the set, but I had a bunch of them.

Sometimes we'd go by the A&W restaurant first for a bite to eat, and get a rootbeer float. If I did that I would inevitably end up begging for more ice cream in the helmet. Sometimes I won out.

There's just something special about a ballpark, even these days. If I had friends with me we'd go back behind the outfield walls and hope to catch homerun balls. Good times.

My daughter still has a ball from an Arkansas Travlers game.

Both kids also got some gum from a Corpus Christi hook player.

Love me some minor league ball

have taken them to Ray Winder Field. Old home of the Arkansas travelers(us to be able to hear them from home)
And Modern Woodman Park home of the Quad City River Bandits.

Gateway Grizzlies is a fun park also

One of my sons got the helmet ice cream last weekend in Frisco. Back at home with us now and he's had the dog wearing it. Good times.

I took mine to a Pirates game at PNC when he was younger and was playing little league. After a few innings, he was ready to leave.

I took him to a live WWE event and he was in heaven. I even caught AJ Styles' shirt when he threw it into the crowd. A few years later we went to WrestleMania 34 in New Orleans and met AJ. We gave him the shirt to autograph and he immediately recognized it as one of his own shirts. Super nice guy. My son got to meet some of his favorites (including his #1, Randy Orton) and even got to do his own entrance down the ramp, using AJ Styles' entrance music. WWE is really great with kids.

Now he's 16 and couldn't care less about it

It’s hard to articulate the feeling of being at a ballpark, but it just feels like one of the most American things a person can do. When you’re at a game, you just feel like all is well with the world. You feel connected with your dad and grandpa who also loved that experience, and you feel a special camaradie with the fans. There’s just something about it: the cold beer, the sound of the bat hitting the ball, the announcers, the music, the cheers—everything.
