North Dakota State is a bad college baseball team but the team found a way to win, so credit to them. However, it is a concerning performance after receiving the #1 ranking.

Pressure comes in many forms during the season, but the pressure mounts towards the end of the year. Simultaneously, you need to be playing your best ball. You'll be getting everyone's best shot and you have to be ready.

Receiving the #1 ranking is another form of pressure that the team did not handle well last night. You want to see a team handle that and take on the challenge of knowing they are the best. This same time of year in 2023, that team went on the road to beat Texas on a Tuesday early in the season and took care of business and handled the pressure.

This team would have lost last night against a quality team. I am not saying this team can't end up being as good as the 2023 team, but the performances early in the year can indicate performance later on.

No. They aren’t even #1 in the majority of polls so this idea that their play is going to drastically change because there is a 1 on the TV instead of a 2 is dumb

It's a midweek game. Jeez.

You are going to have letdown type games against mid week opponents here and there. It just happens!
There is some concern about the pitching - have a few weeks to get it sorted out. Good news is the lineup is well balanced and can score runs.

it's concerning if that ever happens again.
if it's just a one off "flukey" night, then no big deal. be glad it happened against NDSU and not an SEC squad.

It was a bad game, in the middle of the week, after coming off of a 5-0 week. If you want to panic over it go right ahead, but I think that's pretty dumb.

It’s really not man. I’m so tired of seeing rantard baseball takes like it’s a football game or something. The reality of the game was that Ware had an awful start and Noot had a bad outing, but we had 4 pitchers afterwards who were lights out and we put up 11 runs. The team did its job and played a fine game overall. Ware not performing has nothing to do with the team or the #1 ranking

It was also game 1 of another 5 game week coming off a week of travel and no real practices in over a week.

He didn't have his best stuff for sure, but when you look at it, it really wasn't as bad as it seemed. You have a kid reach on a K in the first. Then a bad pick off puts him on third. The ball hit to Stanfield was a really tough play, but I think he makes that catch more times than not. Then you have Jones and Arambede watch a foul ball drop between them. Anytime you have to get 6 outs in an inning as a pitcher, the score board will likely reflect that.

It was Midweek game after a tough week of road games. Two pitchers didn't have their best stuff and the guys looked like they went to Mardi Gras when they got back from Texas.

That's all it was in my eyes. I don't read to much into it because the guys battled and got the win. Being #1 in a poll had nothing to do with it.

Historically, I don't want to be #1 when the playoffs roll around. #1 does not usually win in Omaha.

It’s a midweek game at the beginning of the year after a tournament win on the road. Never mind the fact we got the #1 ranking target put on our back at the same time. The team slept walk through the first half of that game and still won. The important thing last night is that this team showed grit and battled back. You don’t have to put stock into how we played last night and think that’s some prediction of how we’re going to play with our season on the line

Not to be a Debby-Downer but it won't matter for long...Tenn is beating the piss out of people...They'll be #1 across the board soon.

Which is totally fine with me.

We are having to pull out close victories against mediocre baseball teams. A lot of cause for concern!!
