Kathleen Kennedy to Step Down at Lucasfilm

quote:

After a mixed 13-year run, the legendary movie producer has informed Disney, as well as friends and associates, that she will exit as Lucasfilm president by the end of the year.

"Mixed" is one way to put it. Disastrous is another. I think I hear popping champagne from a few frequent posters on this board.

They still made a lot of money but the quality sufffered. Mixed is the correct word. Also, some of the shite was really good like Rogue One, The Mandalorian, Andor, and more recently Skeleton Crew. But I’m not trying to defend her. Overall, she did a very poor job for someone as accomplished as she is.

Let's hold off on celebration until we see who replaces her.

I agree. I'm happy to know she might be gone soon, but it could be even worse!

Imagine how much more 'they' (Lucasfilms) would have made if there was better quality.

Not sure it’s possible to be worse than her recent track record. She killed two franchises in Star Wars and Indiana Jones. That takes some skill. Watch her go to Amazon to shite all over James Bond. Now that would be insanity.

There's literally a new star wars series season coming out in 2 months that a lot of people are excited for

But more importantly, she ruined the movie trilogy and completely wasted Luke

One out of how many though? We already know the ending to Andor as well.

The Mandalorian (only seasons 1 and 2 were good)
The Book of Boba Fett (Garbage)
Obi-Wan Kenobi (Garbage until the last two episodes)
Andor (Good)
Ahsoka (Mid)
The Acolyte (Garbage)
Skeleton Crew (Mid)

Not a very good track record considering the amount of money they are putting into it. And is anyone genuinely excited for the Rey saga?

Doesn't change my point that the hyperbole and sensationalism of calling star wars 'dead' is stupid. Its very much alive haha there are still millions of people visiting star wars based theme park lands and watching star wars television shows and movies.

EA has said theyve sold $2 billion worth of star wars video games in the past 4 years

Yes, even rise of Skywalker made over a billion. But it's going to be a hell of a challenge for whoever takes over. I wouldn't say "dead" but a lot of people are now lukewarm on star wars, and young kids don't care about it

It would be the ultimate hilarious troll job if Disney replaced her with a gay chick

I know he’s said he has no interest but you offer all of the money you have and complete creative control to Denis to make a new trilogy and you keep offering more until he says yes or files a restraining order
