Bone in wings

Why are they so damn expensive? The cheapest I could find on DoorDash was about $48 landed. Hell, you can get a nice 24oz ribeye with a couple side for less. I love them, but have never understood the price for the amount of food you get.

Wings are expensive. But this is your problem, you are lazy.
DoorDash prices are higher than the restaurant prices unless you are ordering for a national corporate chain like Applebees or Hooters.
Edit: And how many wings are you trying to order? 20 hooters wings are $25. I’m sure whatever local places near you are the same.

Places around here are around $15 per pound or so. Not sure how many you ordered…
Honestly, the price went way up with a big shortage during COVID and places never brought the end consumer price back down as their cost went down. You can get a good deal at the grocery store and cook them yourself

I'll never understand ordering wings.
Making them at home is so much cheaper. Just like steak

Just call them wings.
Boneless wings are chicken nuggets. That’s what a child would order.
Wings are chicken with bones in them. This is what adults order

They are charging gourmet prices for crap I once used as crab bait.
Like already mentioned, how lazy are you that you don't just buy them from a store raw and cook some instead of ordering------------of all things------------chicken wings via DoorDash.
My wife gets the 10 lb. bag of frozen wings from Costco for around $20 or so and air fries them most of the time.

Don't like to flame on the Food Board, but you are correct. The stupid 'boneless' wings are nothing but chicken nuggets. Wings have bones in them.

You're telling me that you are surprised it costs a ton of money for
- someone to prepare and cook
- someone to deliver your food
- you to not have to leave your front door to get your food
It should come as no surprise that the actual cost of everything you want realistically costs maybe $5, but you must be clueless as to everything that goes behind the reason why this is your actual purchase price.
I refuse to support companies like DoorDash for multiple reasons, but mostly because a driver stole our $90 family order after my family drove 14 hours to see me. The big problem with these companies that you get left behind by competitors if you don't opt in for these food delivery services. I remember when Waitr was around, they took 30% cut on every Waitr order, just for using the platform. Restaurants mark up their prices on the apps to try and cover the added slash to their bottom line. It also pushes a massive priority on DoorDash/Uber Eats customers vs. In-store and their own delivery drivers.
I truly don't care if people want to be lazy and pay massive conveniences prices for things they want. Don't complain when you want to pay others to do something you don't want to do. Order directly from the stores instead.

Meat in general has gotten more expensive. Wings used to be leftover scraps from processing a chicken that nobody wanted. Now, they are popular (due to cult following and GMOs making them larger), which leads to higher demand. Filling an order of 100 wings requires killing and processing 25 chickens. You can no longer sell this chicken as a whole chicken or a rotisserie chicken, so you need to sell it in pieces or process it further. There may not be demand for 25 chickens worth of breasts, thighs, and legs, so you have to waste some. This increases overall cost of a wing.
Wings are also oddly shaped and difficult to ship and store. The cheapest way to do this is to ship them frozen in bag. This requires a lot of freezer space, which can be an added expense. Better wing places may keep their wings fresh, requiring constant shipping and receiving.
Due to all of this, wings have gone from cheap scrap food to a specialty meat. The cost reflects this and people still pay it. You have made matters significantly worse by ordering it on door dash. You're own little private logistics service.
Choice-Prime Ribeye at the grocery store runs about $10-$30 a pound.

The best wings are fried. It’s a pain to fry things at home.

Or if I’d had too much to drink and needed food delivered. Is that ok?

The best wings are smoked. Season and toss em on the Traeger and smoke for 2 hours then crank up the heat to get them crispy and baste with buffalo. Better than any restaurant wing.

I grill wings all the time. But if I’m craving fried wings I’ll go pick some up from a restaurant
