Is it the Saints have drafted poorly the past years or poor coaching once they are here?

they've had some MASSIVE misses don't get me wrong, but part of me thinks it was just shite coaching and scheme.

or is it just a combination of both?

combination of both. Some talented players that don't fit. Some talented players that were not coached up well. Some very untalented players who had no damn reason to be drafted.

Both

Ireland has been slightly vindicated by Zach Baun, Trey Hendrickson and others

Loomis let them out the door for lesser talents...Davenport, Turner, Foskey specifically

I don't know about Penning, or Ruiz who vouched or banged the table that may not even be on Ireland

Sean could draft any player he fell in love with and there would be no organization push back

I also question the general football IQ of HC Dennis Allen and his draft strategy or draft acumen for roster building...he knows DBs but has proven he knew nothing else

For better or worse Loomis as long as he is GM...and I hope this is the case...goes back to being a backup singer or bass player and not the lead man

Let Moore shine or fallout on his own. I like the staff...let him and Ireland build the roster and Mickey just needs to make the money workout while not contributing directly to geriatric football players 401k

Players always play better after leaving the Saints. Luck, coaching, scouting, management, ownership….

It’s up to the scouting department find and evaluate talent. The scouting department are not the ones picking players for the team. In most cases they are not even scouting for a particular system. They evaluate players and it’s up the coaching staff to pick when fits what they want to do.

It’s up to the coaching staff to 1) draft the right players for their system, 2) weight the risk vs reward of payers with flags, 3) develop the players they hav in their roster.

Hendrickson was part of the 2017 draft class. I don't think anyone thinks Ireland needs vindication for anything involved in possibly the GOAT drafts

ALL OF THE ABOVE

The Scouting has been substandard for some time.

Draft Execution has been substandard for some time.

Coaching has been substandard for some time.

The Roster has been substandard for some time.

The Culture has been substandard for some time.

I am cautiously optimistic about the new regime, but as long as Loomis is still in the building and managing the salary cap, I don't see anything changing.

We draft above average IMO.

The salary cap is the issue.

Not re-signing our draft classes bc that money is tied up into god knows what bullshite.

Hendrickson

Ellis

Baun

Werner

Adebo

Young - 6th rd good depth. Plays LT & RT

Taylor

Penning - looks to be a starter - finally

Shaheed

Breese

Saldiveri - eh I’m reaching. Ok depth

Howden- tons of reps already. He is a starting safety in this league. Staley is going to make Howden and Taylor all pro

Kool Aid - he is basically Chauncey Gardener so we need to use him that way. He and Taylor will be the enforcers.

Fuaga

Bub - he can be a reliable Lance Moore type

Rattler. - I think there is small tiny itsy bitsy chance… that Moore rolls with Ratt.

Loomis stated several times they wanted to and planned to keep Zach Braun. He ended up signing a one year deal to get a shot at a bigger role.

Braun didn’t like the role they had for him - that falls on DA.

We need to trade back a few if we have a good partner and let’s get a full draft class for the first time in years and see how things play out.

Also poor coordination between the coaches and Loomis. The coaches,
often got good players , then put them in positions that don't fit their abilities (Baun). Or the scheme didn't maximize what they can do. Add to that piss poor health management and the players are always hurt.. In both thee scenarios the players go elsewhwere and shine. Look at Anzalone, Malcolm Jenkins, Marcus Williams, Baun. Then there are poor decisions, i.e. Hendrickson. If we still had all these players, what kind of team would we have had?

The problem with alot of coaches is they are stuck with their schemes.
Many can`t adjust to their talent .The really good ones play their schemes
to the talent on hand. There aren`t many of them.DA definitely sucked at this.

both. Theyve drafted multiple offensive lineman, Fuago is the only one worth it. Theyve drafted multiple defensive lineman, all suck. Free agent better than all of them
