The only true way to stop illegal immigration in my opinion.

We are taking this bitch back

The fact that this hasn't BEEN happening, at scale, is ridiculous!

Hopefully they start hitting roofing jobs and companies with the same.

Remove all incentives for illegals

Excellent!
But how would an employer deal with being presented false documentation when someone applies for employment? False SS cards, other IDs, work permits, etc. It does happen, and it happens often enough.

It's called dereliction of duty to uphold the law which you take an oath when appointed/hired for those overseeing immigration laws.

Yeah... but with no will for enforcement (til now).

We are I-9 compliant, do E-Verify, 4 level background checks, TWIC, and other background checks and they STILL get through.
I'll let yall know how comfortable the beds in jail are.

Background checks? Probably the only way to ensure this.

Have the charges against Elon Musk for NOT hiring illegal aliens been dropped?

I-9 and E-Verify
If they do this and the employee presented false documents, they are covered....if the fail to do so, the do so at their own risk....

Yes, this is what I'm referring to.
Years ago when I was doing some of this verification stuff it wasn't a clear cut process. And, like you mention, it was expensive and time consuming.
Hopefully some support can be provided for employers who want to be compliant but are beaten at the game by hackers and fraudsters.

OK, good. I think that if the employer can show they have, in good faith, followed the procedures they should not be blamed.

Owners in this case admitted they knew. You shouldn’t be charged if they used forged documents and you did due diligence.

Yes, the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT is capable of such nuanced distinctions.
Yes, Mr. EPA Guy, my satellite waste storage was only 4" inches away from being compliant, but since it wasn't intentional, I'm sure you'll overlook it.
I'm sure the IRS will be forgiving as well, if I intended to pay my taxes, but forgot to mail the check.

This will be fine for large companies as they can afford the money and time to go through the twenty steps for e verify, etc. it’s the small businesses that’ll be screwed
