Would you support a dictatorship if you knew the results would be the same as Singapore?

If anyone is familiar with Singapore they are the most accepted dictatorships in the world.

Lee Kaun Yew is if you took the most logical person alive and made him a dictator.

Lee Kaun Yew who made himself dictator had one goal. Was to make Singapore the most prosperous country it could be.

-He publicly hanged criminals and drug dealers. Saying something along the lines of it’s harsh but after the 3rd hanging everyone knows you’re serious.

Singapore in the 6th safest country in the global

-He openly intervened in personal life and social norms stating along the lines of anything that weakens the society should not be accepted.

4th best in Asia in mental health policies

-He also stayed extremely neutral and invested into turning his country to finance sector of Asia and is now one of the richest countries in the region.

4th in global financial index

And what happens when he dies? At some point, dictatorships always lead to abuse of power.

No. I would rather have the freedom to frick things up and rebuild, hopefully learning from our past mistakes, then never having a choice at all.

Singapore is a nice country to visit but it is very expensive. Buying a car there is insanely expensive.

I think a benevolent king is interesting as a modern concept, but I think most of us would want so many contingent things as checks on power (couldn't have too much armed might, couldn't govern too big a state, etc.) that he'd end up not really being much of a "king" at all.

Also, I'm American, so:

I’ll change it to this, would you want New Orleans to be ruled by a dictator like that?

One of the things you have to accept when you have actual freedom is that people can make choices that make society worse overall.

The problem nowadays is that those choices are starting to impact more than just the person choosing to make them.

Marijuana in your own home, fine... but I think widespread legal marijuana use in public has made multiple once cool cities WAY more trashy.

The trans stuff, a dude being in the women's bathroom makes ACTUAL women uncomfortable. Men playing women's sports obviously impacts other people than just the mentally ill man.

Letting people sleep/eat/shite wherever they want lowers the quality of life for everyone.

The problem with even having a good dictator is that eventually you won't. Its not like Game of Thrones where they got an all-knowing near-immortal being to make decisions for them. Even with Leto II in Dune stuff went off the rails and he was almost an all-knowing being.

Singapore in the 6th safest country in the global

May work in a country of 6 million, but has been proven a failure in the Philippines during duterte's regime.
