Has anyone known someone to take the weight loss shots, stop, and keep weight off?

Lots of people I know, mostly women, who 1-2 years ago lost a lot of weight, posted about it constantly, talked about how great the shot was… and today have gained all the weight back.

The shot works but you have to eat better and exercise once you stop taking it.

Otherwise it’s just a super expensive short term weight loss pill and all the yo-yo weight loss gonna give you A cup boobs that hang to your knees…

why do you know so many fatties

I don't know a single person that has taken this shot. I wouldn't know it was a thing if it weren't for the fatties on the OT talking about it

I had one of my paralegals on it, she lost about 40 pounds and it has been about a year and while I haven't put her on a scale she doesn't look like she has gained much if any back. I also don't watch her eat and for all I know she is still taking it.

My wife has two coworkers on it, and it is working great for now. The drug is too new to assess the long term effects. But in the case of these women and the extent of their obesity, it's worth the risk because they are already morbidly obese which will definitely kill them in the not too distant future.

The ones I see that have lost a lot of weight because of the shot also seem to have lost any muscle tone. They seem to have turned into bags of bones.

I’m not saying it doesn’t work and that it may beat the long term effects of obesity.

What I’m saying is… are they going to need the shot for the rest of their lives, at least as some maintenance dose?

In practice, yes

I thought the drug has been around for while to treat diabetes?

I would assume if you go a long time eating less, your stomach shrinks and you get used to eating less. Yes, getting off the shot will make you hungrier, but I guess the hope is your body is now accustomed to eating less so as long as you keep it up, you should be able to maintain a weight pretty close to when you stopped. But you have to make that lifestyle change.

No complaints.

Gotta love the tryhards looking to shite on something good. These drugs have been around and studied for decades. It’s not something you have to stay on forever. And of course you have to do the right thing if you get off, just like with any diet.

The reason why they took the shot was because they are lazy.

If someone just is not gonna go to the gym or do any sort of active lifestyle, they are not gonna lose weight

There's nothing mechanically wrong with the shot that causes the side effects you see like Ozempic face, saggy skin, yo-yo weight rebound etc, but the problem is is because it's like a cheat code for dieting without having to watch your nutrition and exercise, a lot of people never learn how to properly maintain themselves at a lower weight to *not* have those things happen.

It's better than having an obese sick population to have them dependent on these shots, but they shouldn't be treated like a magic bullet. People should try to lose weight the old fashioned way if they can. Learn to eat nutritious, low calorie high density food, exercise regularly, and be healthy the right way. You're going to have to learn how to do it eventually anyway if you want to ever stop taking the shots and be healthy, you might as well start learning how to do it on your way down.

My wife has never eaten enough to maintain her weight much less gain weight but right after she hit menopause she gained like 30 pounds despite eating less, (which was huge for here as she weighed 115 pounds). There was definitely something going on with thyroid and her body ahd her system and they were hot on it until Covid hit.

We tried exercise etc for year but her body just seemed to adapt the new weight. She started taking Zepbound about 6 months and she is down 25 pounds so far and has about 5 pounds left to lose. Unlike many of your posters everyone is on it in my neighborhood.

Your question is exactly mine. I also gained a bunch after my surgeries etc so I am starting it this week. I need to ideally lose 20-25 pounds. My doctor said go for it so I am. (and just paying the 500 a month out of pocket) He used it for about a year and got off and gained very little bsck.

I am going to give it 6 months and see what happens but I am not doing this for life.

Yep. That's their story, and they are sticking to it.
