Could be wrong but I don't think I've heard him at either one in quite a while

Wishing him the best and hope it will be a long time until his personal sun sets in the west.

My buddies and I have joked about creating a YouTube compilation of Dan Borne’s greatest yells ever I think it would be awesome if we did it.

How about in 2011 when in the dead time from the extra point until kickoff during the Kentucky game he adlibbed:

“Credited with a sack, Tyrann Mathieu.
Forced fumble, Tyrann Mathieu.
Fumble recovery, Tyrann Mathieu.
And a touchdown… The Honey Badger!”

Dan is a friend and is alive and well. Unfortunately, he’s been dealing with some long term health issues that have kept him away from calling games for LSU.

There is nobody missing him announcing Tiger games more than Dan. Keep him in your prayers.

I’ve heard that Dan had a 9-5 all those years, what type of work was he into? Wishing him all the best, he is a wonderful person and we are certainly very proud of what he brought to Tiger Stadium.

Dan got into radio broadcasting as the game play-by-play game voice of the Nicholls St. Colonels baseball team back in the 1960's when he was a student at Nicholls. Dan once told me that Nicholls at that time was the first and only college baseball team that had a game radio P by P broadcast.

When he was a graduate student at LSU he worked part-time as a mostly weekend news anchor on a local (Baton Rouge-WAFB) TV station. At that time Sid Crocker, who worked as a sports reporter/announcer on WAFB, was the Tiger Stadium PA announcer and he would invite Dan into the press box during football games.

When Crocker retired Dan wrote LSU a letter introducing himself and conveyed how much he would appreciate being considered to replace Sid. Dan heard nothing from LSU for months, but just before football season started in 1986 he got a call from the LSU sports information director, inviting him to meet with him and several colleagues.

Dan went to meet with the LSU people and during the interview they offered him the job as the football PA announcer starting that season. He was shocked that he got the offer so he asked the LSU people, "Why me?" They told him, "Because nobody else has asked to do it."

And that's how he got the LSU Tiger Stadium PA job in 1986.

Dan became the head of the Louisiana Chemical Association as his careeer job. The LCA is a lobbyist group supporting the oil and gas and chemical refineries in Louisiana.
