Have any of the large company executives explained the difference of WFH vs WFI? I don’t have a job that can be done remotely so I don’t really care either way just curious.

They are at least in an office building with all their other miserable coworkers in India.

Because they can pay Indians 20% of what they pay you. The lack of productivity matters a lot less with an 80% "savings."

In IT there are no savings, because that 80% savings is taking about twice as many people back here to fix the mess that they made.

If someone’s projects get done, clients/coworkers are happy, why does it matter if they work from home or mars?

And if the projects haven’t been getting done, how have you waited 4 years before moving people back to the office?

It makes zero sense

Don't venture into areas where you don't know shite. Quality of work product is a valid complaint, however.

As someone who has a lot of colleagues who are Indian workers in an office in India, I say ship all the jobs over there.

That's going to work out great for you. Be my guest.

Anyone who has actually dealt with work being offshored understands the quality difference.

Ding ding ding.

My day looks exactly the same whether I'm in an office or at home. I have 36 people that report to me, in 4 different countries. 6 different states within the US.

The company is set up to collaborate virtually, if they want to go into an office then structure the company to support it.

It doesn’t matter if it’s true or not, it matters that it’s a concern of companies. We have specific T&C’s in engagement letters with some clients that explicitly say we can’t offshore their data.

And I don’t think you know a damn thing other than you hate your ex wife and kids

most of the Indians working remote lie, cheat, and steal to provide a resume you want to see. Most of the Indians working remote are working multiple jobs. Most of the Indians working remote are only capable of doing grunt work / data entry. Most of the Indians working remote will take another job if offered another $2/hour more than you pay them.

Should I keep going?

I work for an O&G consulting company, and we are pressured by the operators to cut costs, so we offer WFI personnel and rates as a savings to them which they like. We also have an office in Bogota that is there for the same reason. Cheap people.

Also to add they are cheap, but you get what you pay for. The work is substandard and needs correcting most of the time.

We had a guy interview for multiple positions posing as different family members. His goal was to get his dad and brother a job; and the interviewee would do all 3 jobs.

My company reshored a lot of our basic IT operations back to America after trying Indian workers. While they were very knowledgeable at technical processes, there customer service skills and there lack of common sense turned off a lot of our employees and customers. They made everything more difficult than it had to be. Fixing a software glitch turned into a weekly and long affair. The decrease in labor costs is often negated by the loss of time and customers.
