And I could see it playing out were unless he leaves on his own he gets to the end of his contract. In this situation it matters less what the fans and even what Woodward wants, Tate is happy with McMahon so he will continue to be our coach.

The horror! You might as well shut the program down.

If attendance, season tickets, tickets sold, etc. take a nosedive, their feelings won't really matter.

Actual attendance matters a lot less than ticket sales, and season tickets are still being bought.

Why is Tate happy with McMahon?

I don't think you people realize how manageable his buyout is to private money after this season.

Relative to the market, it's really not that much.

It’s what I’ve heard. Take it or leave it.

I believed he had at least another year to fix things after some scrappy performances against better teams, but these last two games tell me the McMen have quit.

LSU still has Ole Miss, Florida, Tennessee, and A&M to go with road trips to Arkansas, Oklahoma, MS State, and Kentucky. None of those are wins. That is eight more losses for a team already 1-8 in the conference.

I don't see a scenario where a coach in his third year can go 1-17 or 2-16 and keep his job.

Ask yourself this: what have you seen from this current regime that leads you to believe next year will be any different?

No one has purchased season tickets for next year yet. It's hard to imagine that number will stay the same. There is going to be a % that bail out. Right now you can buy tickets to LSU home games for a low as $2.00. The ticket fees on Seat Geek (LSU's authorized secondary retailer) are higher than the actual cost of the ticket.

Agreed.

We haven't looked completely lost or outmatched quite like we have the last 2 games. Pretty fricking bad. This was his year to really turn it around and we haven't, so we need to figure out a new option.

Morning baw

As much as I thought there would be a fourth year, I've heard from sauces that it is very much the admin's intention for that to not be the case

I've heard the same, but I don't really believe it - yet.

I still think he gets one more year. If we lose by double digits the rest of the way, I'll believe it.

I mean yeah because of economics and I hope the team tanks and we can his arse and hire a coach who knows how to both crush it in this NIL landscape and actually coach. I would be pleasantly surprised if we turn it around and actually compete in the SEC though. I like Matt McMahon and thought the hire was good at the time but 3 years of this nonsense is enough of a sample size for me to conclude a founded opinion on his ability.

Year 1 -- not absolving him, he did a great job of refilling the roster and starting off hot in the non-conference and we did beat a top 10 Arkansas team to kick off SEC play but then we collapsed the rest of the season and he didn't have any answers. It was pathetic.
Year 2 -- McMahon dropped the ball in the non-conference in a bunch of winnable games and basically cost us a bubble spot. Even though we went 9-9 in SEC play, we barely won a bunch of those games as we didn't play well (barely lost some as well so it evens out). Then we completely laid down at home in the NIT opening game against North Texas of all teams which we beat
Year 3 -- Started off well in non-conference then bottom fell out in SEC play. Maybe Reed makes a difference for a couple of wins maybe he doesn't seems like we're scapegoating to justify McMahon's continued employment with LSU. I mean Bama lost Wrightsell for the season and are still crushing it as a top 4 team, injuries are breaks of the game.

Nope, it is all about ticket sales at home. He is gone after this year. Probably will finish the year because it is a wash anyway. He will be let go after the SEC tournament's over.

I am starting to think, with the way his body language is, CMM wants this to happen as well. Take a discounted 7 million and bugger off to cancun and wait for the Murray St job to re-open.

They have fallen off quite a bit. Currently 11-13 on a 4 game skid. Maybe the timing will align to benefit all.

Only thing Tate and woodturd care about is the program turning a profit, which it will always do bc of the sec profit sharing and the tv contracts alone.
