I am shell shocked. An aging oft injured 31 year old center and a 2029 1st rd pick (which will be meaningless) for a top 3 NBA superstar entering his prime.

I thought Jerry Jones was the worst owner in DFW. Good day to be Jerry.

It sounds like the Mavs approached the Lakers. They didn't even field other offers or opened up the bidding for a young generational talent. I'm not even an NBA fan, but this is the most absurd trade I've seen.

I said this in the main thread but just blatantly rigged. The NBA wants you to think a GM is retarded enough to send a 25 year old generational walking triple double to the lakers for a 31 year old AD on the back half of his career and a single 2029 first round pick

I mean come on man

There’s financial gain for the Mavs ownership behind closed doors. This is an all time terrible trade.

Honestly, there has to be more going on behind the scenes than this being the legit offer. Maybe Luka fricked the new owner's wife?

The Deashaun Watson trade didn’t last too long as the worst trade in sports history, but maybe it can still be the worst contract in sports history

Shocking yes

Worst?

TBD

Luka allegedly is up to 280 now and his knee is a major concern

He may be on the decline

I agree it’s the worst. Kyrie and AD have an 18 month window to win a title. They are currently in 11th place and the 12th place team just got a lot better.

Try this on for size

"The New Orleans Saints acquired quarterback Steve Walsh in a trade with the Dallas Cowboys on September 25, 1990. The Saints gave the Cowboys their first- and third-round picks in the 1991 NFL draft, plus a second-round pick in 1992 that could become a first-round pick. "
Thank the Saints for contributing to those Super Wins.

It's been confirmed that Doncic's weight was up in the 270s recently. He hasn't played since Xmas and there are serious injury concerns. His conditioning is not good and he's missed the last two training camps. I'd be hesitant to give him a 5Y/350M deal. So I understand moving on from him, especially if the two sides had tension.

It wasn't a great return. Davis is a top 10 player (arguably the best defender in the league). But he isn't a leader. I could see the Mavs surprising some people the rest of the year and they shouldn't be terrible next year. Just have to see how they build going into the future..

It's not an argument of if the Mavs should have traded Luka, it's how they went about it. There is no reason to only discuss a trade with one team. Absolute malpractice and honestly doesn't pass the smell test.

This isn't even close to the worst trade in sports history.. Not close at all in my opinion. The Dallas Cowboys traded Hershel Walker to Minnesota. Received 3 first round picks and 3 second round picks over the next 2 years. Johnson used that trade to build the Cowboys dynasty.

This trade was so bad that ESPN did a 30 for 30 on it called "The Great Train Robbery".

The Laker/Mavs trade isn't even in the same ballpark.
