If tweet fails to load, click here. Question: are those tires still usable? the reason I ask is why wash them, put new ones on.

That is very satisfying to watch.
I'm not a car guy at all, but can't fathom buying that and never driving it. Dude must've died.

Those "first wash" videos are cool.
That said, that's an '82, I think, so every single rubber part is gonna be just about disintegrated.

They may hold air but after a few times up to highway speed, I'm sure they would begin coming apart.

My first thought. Every bit of rubber needs replaced.

I wouldn't drive anywhere at speed on those tires.

Yep, an 82 Collector's Edition. Ditto on the everything rubber.

Of course not. What kind of question is that?

So clearly, those tires melted off...

And with the infamous Crossfire (Missfire) engine no less!

For show they are fine. If you want to drive it, no. But with 33 miles that thing is going into a collection.

Wish the video would have continued until they cranked it up.

Yeah that was disappointing as hell.
Those videos like that where they clean up something old and musty are so satisfying.

The best thing to do with a car like this is to secure as much of the original paperwork that came with the car as delivered. Make sure everything on the car is working and then take it to a NCRS or Bloomington Gold judging event and have it validated as original or as close to original as it came from the factory. The score sheet total and (possible) award presented will add to the value of the vehicle when a transfer of ownership happens.
As for the tires, for driving no. 7-8 years even with plenty tread left is the accepted life for tires on a C3 corvette. Those tires are very valuable to the car as original for judging and should not be discarded if replaced as they are date coded.

Dry rotted as hell - 10 years or more a they really start deteriorating - most tires 6/7 years and recommend replacing.

No '82 Vette is "worth a fortune".
