Serious question? How many people buy Insurance based on PR people they pay for Ads???

Let’s take AFLIC for example….
Nick Saban
Deion Sanders
Don Staley
These people would be opposite of why I would want insurance with you? I just don’t get it- cut the overhead and lower premiums, that’s what people want not these 3 people involved in our affairs. Also to add none of these ads are even creative.

No different than the NIL money given to some kid for a car commercial. I can’t imagine some stud RB makes people flock to the local Chevy dealership.

Is Deion lining up at CB on your front lawn?

As your host, I have some rules.

I’ve wondered for years how advertising in general these days even works. Old commercials created awareness in the market for a product or service. Commercials these days are often bizarre or have unfunny humor or a celebrity cameo and I’m left wondering who it is convincing in the market but it must be working or they wouldn’t do it. I’m a word of mouth guy.

I’d love to Buy State Farm Homeowners insurance but the frickers won’t sell to me.

Well we use to have a white Jake from State Farm - now we have a black Jake from State Farm, maybe we could ask him? Or JuJu Watkins?

Imagine how much cheaper State Farm could be if they didn't waste money on freaking Christ Paul, Pat Mahomes, Aaron Rodgers, Andy Reid, etc.
Instead, they spend millions for them and those stupid commercials. It is pretty ridiculous, but somebody has to prop up those worthless PR and marketing people and their careers.

Your question could be if insurance didn't advertise how would you be able to watch your sports?
Hmm. There's a thought provoking question.

Per person? Probably like $5 a year

More people than you think. It's just brand recognition. People feel better purchasing from something that's "familiar." And when it comes down to them and another very similar product, we'll usually pick the more recognizable brand, sometimes even subconsciously.

I’m buying insurance on price and coverage advantages over the competitors 100% of the time, not because Nick Saban is posing with a Goat.

How do you know where to look?

That has nothing to do with the original question. If a booster wants to shell out to get a kid to show up to school, fine. I just have doubts that paying a kid $100K generates that much and more in vehicle sales.

This guy gets it.

Unless I'm being influenced subliminally by tv/streaming advertising I can't think of too many ads that have convinced me to purchase a product. I buy stuff because I like it or need it.

There was a big New York Times profile a while back of the woman who plays Flo in the Progressive ads. Basically, insurance is something that people consider to be interchangeable - you don't have any associations, like you grew up with your Mom shopping at Target, your Dad driving a Ford truck and your grandpa drinking Budweiser. So that's why it's so important for them to spend a mint on advertising and have high priced pitchmen - when you go to get auto or home insurance, you think of Flo, or Jake and Pat Mahomes, or the caveman/gecko when you are making a decision.

I got a free Shaq bobble head when I signed up with the General for my auto insurance.
The General has also made me a much better driver. The last thing I want to do is get in a wreck and have to deal with them.

Well maybe so, for the simple minded people, for whom they are targeting. But I’ve have never bought a product based on what coach, singer or actor was in their ads.
For Mingo “how do you know where to look?
You seriously think that the only way to find products and services is by watching ads on football games?
For BestBanker “if insurance didn’t advertise how would you be able to watch sports?”
Never said they shouldn’t advertise, and realize TV deals makes the wheels move, but why pay these people lots of money/when you can have ads that are effective without all the celebrity overhead.
Also of note it’s a proven fact in last few weeks the Chiefs are probably the least favorite team in NFL right now, with eagles a close second. And State Farm pumping out ads with Mahomes and Reid? If you did purchase products on start power of their ads, why would someone buy their product when the guys you have advertising are not likable at the moment?
