Thoughts on Bad Monkey staring Vince Vaughn. Apple.

Watched the first two episodes last night. I haven’t really formed an opinion or k ow if I’m into it yet. So far it seems kind of disjointed like it can’t decide if it wants to be a comedy or a thriller/mystery. Does it start to coalesce later on? I saw it was renewed for a second season. Just curious if it’s worth continuing. TIA.

I'm in the same position. I like Vince Vaughn, but I watched the first 2 episodes and they were fine, but didn't blow me away or anything. I'm waiting for my next bad hangover Saturday and I'll give it another shot, maybe binge the season if it picks up.
But aside from Severance, I find that I don't like Apple TV shows as much as most of the forum. Ted Lasso had a great S1 and meh S2 (didn't see S3). Silo S1 was interesting but also a fricking mess. Disclaimer was solid throughout, but fairly forgettable. I have the exact same thoughts about Shrinking as I do Bad Monkey (2 episodes in and it's fine, but I'm not captivated).

Shrinking in my opinion is great. It hits home so hard.

I'll probably give that one another chance before Bad Monkey.
I'm cancelling AppleTV as soon as Severance S2 is done, so I'm going to have to squeeze in BM/Shrinking fairly soon.

Did you watch the limited series Black Bird?

It’s a good show. I knew it’s not Shrinking or Ted Lasso good. But it’s still a solid show worth watching.

I liked Bad Monkey ok but I like VV more than most so I gave it a pass on some things. It is outrageous at times but it doesn’t take itself too seriously.
Shrinking is 100% worth sticking it out. It just gets better and better imo.
I wasn’t a Silo fan but Dark Matter was some pretty awesome sci fi. Most would say Foundation as well.

I thought Bad Monkey was great. Hilarious at times

You loved Morning Show and meh on Severance?
That’s a unique take.
I watched all of the Morning Show and even though I like the cast and have no issues with whatever topics, the relationship formula between characters was nauseating. It’s a constant rotation of get pissed off and yell at each other, watch Jennifer Aniston cry, eventually make up and watch Aniston and Reese hug and both cry. Rinse, repeat. If you don’t believe me, rewatch the show. I watched it fairly recently.

I really liked it. I generally like Vince Vaughn but sometimes he's a bit much. For whatever reason I liked him in this. Highly recommended.
Some Apple shows that have been mentioned but not talked about a lot:
Black Bird. Great mini series based on a true story about a felon trying to get his sentence commuted by getting the goods on a fellow inmate suspected of being a serial killer.
Slow Horses. We're at 4 seasons now and the first 3 were truly great. I just started season 4 so I don't have an opinion. I believe each season is 6 episodes so it goes quick. Gary Oldman is by far the best part of the show.
Shrinking. This is talked about more than others but not as much as it should. If you like Scrubs, Lasso, Bad Monkey or even Cougar Town then this is a show for you. It's the same creator and does a great job of balancing genuinely funny moments and deeply serious subjects. You can easily go from belly laughs to tears in minutes.
Acapulco is another good one but I'm not very far in. It's a half hour comedy about a rich man reminiscing on his experiences working at a resort. So far it's decently funny and has a good heart. I think there's 3 seasons out with a 4th confirmed.
Mythic Quest comes back this week, maybe even tonight? Half hour comedy about a video game company starring Rob McElhenny from Sunny in Philly. I personally love this one and am excited it's back. Rarely ever talked about and I love it.
I liked Presumed Innocent with Gyllenhaal. Good, not great mini series that got picked up for another season but will go with new people/case. Worth the watch even if you saw the Harrison Ford movie.
Dark Matter is on my list but wife isn't interested and I haven't gotten to it yet. But it has great reviews and I'll get to it soon.
Morning Show was really good for 1 season, okay for 1 season and almost unwatchable last season. I'm hoping they get back on track but I'm not hopeful. I'll probably still watch another season because there have been some very good pieces.
If you liked Band of Brothers and The Pacific then you should give Masters of the Air a shot. It's the third best of the 3 Hanks/Spielberg series but I still liked it a lot. I think they do a good job of showing the hell our bombers went through. It has it's detractors but I appreciated it.

O hell yea

Another mini series worth a watch is The Offer. Story behind the making of The Godfather. Really good series that went under the radar. A must watch if your a fan of The Godfather.
Me and my brother are typically like all the same stuff and he really liked Loot and Physical. I never gave either of those a shot though.

I'm still watching it but I'm definitely not enjoying it as much.
