7 years at $12 M per to get him plus control of personnel. Moore is not far from Ben Johnson so salaries should be close and Moore’s against will certainly want to discount 25/26 because of the disastrous cap to give him 4 years before he could become fired.

Moore has seen first hand the disaster of Loomis and Saints’ personnel management.

The Saints for years kept Zack Baun at edge where Vic Fangio watched tape for 10 minutes and realized he’s an off ball LB.

I hope Loomis pulls this off but it will require a long marital commitment to consummate.

The Saints are the twice divorced single Mom with 5 kids from 3 dads looking for a dad to marry. At least they have a meeting with a rich stud, let’s see if they can close it won’t be easy.

I’d prefer loomis stop leveraging the future out of desperation. If we need to tank until the cap clears up on we have good draft picks so be it. Ie crack babies turn 18.

There’s no way Loomis gives up roster control unfortunately. He’s just rubbing it in at this point and doesn’t care who knows it. Gayle needs to sell the team if she wants to keep Mickey around in her life they can do it in Kentucky where she actually lives.

I like Fangio and not trying to take anything away from him, but this may be a little too much credit. If I recall correctly, Baun was predicted to be an off ball LB going into the draft and DA is the one that continuously plugged him into the wrong spot. Other than the fact he kept DA around too long, the failure of Baun with the Saints does not lay at the feet of Loomis and the scouting department. That is 100% on the Saints HC & defensive coaching staff.

Loomis gave roster control to Payton for 15 seasons.

Completely agree. But it is fair game for Moore to question where is the accountability with the GM on such a gross misuse of talent and challenge Loomis’ competence to lead.

The HC that Loomis picked without conducting an actual, real search and then absolutely did NOT want to fire per multiple reports and DA himself?

I don’t think Loomis has roster control at all. Loomis isn’t a football guy, he’s a money guy. Now he seems to be the man who has run up credit cards and has no way to pay them. With that being said, Payton had full roster control and had it very quickly. But, unfortunately for whomever comes here, they can’t just start cutting people. They have to eat this money tied to certain players.

Are we sure he did not do a "real search"? I recall there were some interviews, and some leaks that never resulted in interviews. What if he was getting shot down all the way back in 2022. Remember, we had to force Pete to be the OC, was it because no one else wanted it? Could we have been forced to take DA, because the alternatives that may have considered it were actually worse?

Yes and it was 100% the right thing to do with Payton.

Loomis wants no part of that and never did
