A pharmaceutical rep walking to his vehicle in the Walgreens parking lot was fatally shot Wednesday morning during an apparent robbery attempt, police said.

The shooter drove away from the scene in a white van belonging to the victim.

Apparently the victim was known as Mr. Billy and well loved throughout town. Barbaric behavior from barbarians.

That’s right by Byrd High. Lots of affluent kids around that area.

Happen to know the last name? I was looking on KSLA's FB page and they didn't release any info.

That’s horrible. That’s not a bad area either.

Was it a random carjacking, or someone thinking the van was full of opiates?

Exactly. The “good” area of Shreveport. But something tells me that’s also why the low life was picked this particular Walgreen’s to do this, they never saw it coming vs spots in other areas of Shreveport that have to have security or LEOs nearby as often as possible. He’s probably been casing the guy and his delivery times to this store for weeks.

I’m still somewhat newish to the area- is that near Green Acres and Plantation Park schools? Wondering if that’s why they were on lockdown or whatever earlier.

Yes it is. They tore down all the old Riverwood apartments so the area there looks much nicer but they kept it low income when they built the new ones. It's actually on the same street as Plantation Park elementary(?).

There is a new pharmacy (well I say new, but I guess its been open for 5 or so years) near me and they deliver and I remember thinking "with all the addicts around the delivery drivers must have to really watch their back".

Its sad that someone just doing their job can get gunned down in the morning, but it isn't surprising. My mom isn't able to get out easy anymore and switched to the place I mentioned so she could have her prescriptions delivered so shite like this puts a service that people depend on, at risk. Whoever shot this person, I hope he spends the rest of his life in a cell with a dude who forces him to blow him twice a day.

Eh, not really.

On the border of an average to bad area. Very mixed. That is miles from anything that would actually be considered a good area.

I’m surprised these sorts of things don’t happen more often

If you case a joint for a day or two you can figure out when the delivery truck with all the meds is coming

Especially once they start unloading all the totes with zip ties on them, you know it’s not Pepsi he’s delivering

It’s the easiest mark you can find. Hit them on a Monday when a big narcotics order is being delivered , it’s a gold mine

Was he at Julieannes? I know the store front faces the Walgreens parking lot.

Doesn't matter. Don't even ask. Trail today. Execution tomorrow.
