Looking for sight for AR

I have a Springfield Saint, 556. I need to accessorize it a little. I am looking for a sight, red dot? Now, it has the stock sights.
Need some suggestions. I dont do any crazy shooting with it. Mostly range up to 100 yards so far. I have not done any long distance shooting. Im not really looking to put a scope on it.
I am have mostly deer hunted with my rifles all my life. All scopes. I am fairly new to AR's and to the red dot thing so go gentle on me. And thanks for any suggestions.

Budget?
Unlimited? Aimpoint t2, eotech, etc.
Limited: Holosun, Sig, vortex, sight mark, etc
ETA: if you have an astigmatism red dots will not be crisp. A scope will serve you better.

Have this sight on my Saint, really like it.

I have a Romeo dot with a Vortex 3x magnifier and it's plenty for 100 yards. A 1-6x LPVO would be good too.

The Vortex Strike Eagle LPVO 1-8x24 is a hellacious deal at Palmetto when they’re in stock. The scope and mount can be had for less than $400 when you use the discount code.

A lot of options. Red Dot, fixed mag Prism scope, LPVO. It's really about what you want.
I personally have an Eotech EXPS holographic which is basically a red dot that I like for out to 50 yards and can shoot 100. It's on a 300 BLK. Any more than that or really needing real accuracy at 100+ (not that I'd shoot that with 300 BLK regularly) and I'd have to add a magnifier. I got the Holographic over a standard red dot because they supposedly work better with magnifiers if I move it to a different rifle.
I have a Vortex Spitfire 5x fixed magnification prism scope on my .223. I can easily shoot to 200+ and threw a cheap Vortex micro red dot on top for ~50 yard quick shots. The Spitfire 5x has a mounting spot for the red dot. All in for both prism and micro dot was like $300 from a sale on PSA's site. Just have to find them available and on sale.

I haven't tried a bunch, but I put this one on mine from a recommendation here and I really like it. I've only done the range so far, but it was easy to sight in. I like the size of the view, 3x is just right for the range I think I would use it. But if you're taking longer shots at deer or pigs, need something for night, then you need more. I was going more for SHTF and fun to tote around a plinking course.
Primary Arms Prism Red Dot
If/when I add another AR, I'll put a thermal on it because I don't have one.

quote:I have this scope on my 14.7" PSA build and it's a fantastic all around optic. I like it better than the compact 3x prisms from PA because the eye box is more forgiving. Enough magnification to be helpful at range, but not too much where you can't use both eyes up close.

Primaryarms.com micro prism, etched reticle in case your battery dies.

I've got a one year old Sig Sauer Romeo MSR green dot on my AR and love it, but it's got no magnification and is not good for hunting past 100 yards. I'm about to replace it with a Vortex 1-8 scope.

I ordered one last night. Thanks for the heads up. $280 w/ mount to the door.

that's insanity considering how much that scope costs anywhere else.

Yeah, I've got no rifle to put that on right now and still almost bought one.

if you're interested in the red dot route, I have a basically brand new Holosun 510C that I'm not using currently.

I have an inexpensive holosun red dot and holosun 3x magnifier, and I am putting silver dollar sized groupings at 25 yards (need to take it outside to go longer but limited options in Charlotte, trying to make friends at the range and joining some shooting comps).

Confirms suspicions of Vortex markup.

I have a Vortex StrikeEagle, a Trijicon ACOG and a Sig Romeo5 on my AR's. My favorite is the ACOG.
