Just watched Horizon and really liked it. What are some other movies in that genre that are good.
Thanks in advance.

Wind River(more of a modern one)

I’m also enjoying the American Primeval show on Netflix.

McCabe & Mrs. Miller is an underrated Robert Altman gem about the western frontier and American capitalism.

Little Big Man is another great one but the book is even better.

The Ballad of Buster Scruggs great modern take on the genre.

Old Yeller
The Outlaw Josie Wells
Dances With Wolves

Even though it's TV, 1883 is an outstanding frontier offering that's shot like a movie

Taylor Sheridan, producer & writer of Yellowstone, will be making a tv movie series out of Empire of the Summer Moon, the historical story of the Comanches. It will be very similar to American Primeval in its dark brutalness & graphic violence. As an aside, a real-life character in the Summer Moon was played by John Wayne in the Searchers.

Bend of the River (1952) is about families moving from St. Louis to Oregon. It’s one of a couple of Jimmy Stewert movies made after WWII, that were directed by Anthony Mann. Their biggest problems were doing business with crooked businessmen in Portland who were supposed to deliver cattle, food and supplies before winter hits. When the settlers don’t get their goods they go back to Portland to get the supplies and find out gold was found nearby. The supplier doesn’t want to give them their things, because gold miners will pay more for it. so they have to take the stuff. They also hire some shady characters to help drive the cattle and supplies back to the camp.

Other stars in it are Rock Hudson, Julie Adams and Arthur Kennedy.

JustWatch says it's available on Starz and Apple TV.

It's a Technicolor movie that has some great location scenery.
