Looking for things to do in late March. Restaurant recommendations too.
Renting a nice cabin and plan to relax and take it easy for a week.
Searched the board. Not much info available.

Not much to do there. It's very well marketed real estate. Nature trails are common.
In 10-15 years, it might be the new hot place to go.

Went at the end of December for a long weekend. Really enjoyed our time nice getaway spot only 6.5 hours away from BR. Fairly easy drive.
Pizza at Grateful Head
Food truck at Beavers Bend Brewery was okay. Hot dogs and pretzel typical bar fare.
Casino is pretty tiny, but incredibly clean and nice Killed an hour playing some slots.
We enjoyed our stay, just wife and dogs. Went there to relax and take a couple of hikes. Plenty of spots to grab a beer and sit at a bar to get out of the cabin for a few hours.

3-4 years ago we went in June. Don’t remember the name of the cabins. There was a hot tub on the back deck and it was on a creek. Nice enough but we came home with more chiggers than i thought existed. We walked down to the creek so I don’t know if we got them on that or if they were in the bed. Just so ya know.

One of the more overrated places I’ve ever been to be honest. The cabins are priced pretty high and there is literally almost nothing there. I just didn’t see the value in sitting in the cabin with nothing to do for the price they’re asking. You can go somewhere for half the price to do that.

Sucks to hear that. There are some really nice cabins on abnb. We generally like to rent a cabin and cook most nights. We also like to get out and explore a little but if there’s nothing to do, then we may look into somewhere else.
Been to Gatlinburg so many times we have no interest in going again. Where else would be a good place to rent a cabin and have some shite to do?
Been to Blue Ridge.

NWA is a little further(8-10 hours depending on where you go). Jasper AR has some secluded cabins near the Buffalo River.

Its only 3 hrs from me but we never go, there are much better places in that 3 hr drive range.

Have you been to the New Braunfels, TX area? Tubing on the Guadeloupe in the warmer weather. You can day trip to San Antonio from there too.

I had fun for two days and then started getting bored. It's growing pretty rapidly, though. It's much more scenic than I thought it would be.

My wife and I drove through it on our way back from Arkansas to Dallas last year
We were very underwhelmed
It basically became a hot bed because of all the suburban Dallas women going on the weekends that drove up real estate
If you can go to Arkansas or the Texas Hill country and it’s not much difference in time, then I’d do that 10/10 times.

I expected more stuff as far as shopping, restaurants with all the hype. But honestly we had a blast just making fires, hiking, cooking at the cabin. Shooting bb guns. Brought the dog.
We only left the cabin to go the pizza joint which was good and the meat market/grocery store. Our cabin was off skyline trail so we just hiked down to the river. Another day we did the friends trail which was much easier on the other side of the river. Think the whole point is to just get away and get outdoors, not putt putt or crap like gatlinburg. The point of any rural cabin imo is to disconnect and enjoy nature but some people have a hard time doing that

I don’t disagree with you, but you can do that for a lot less than $600 a night was my only point in my original post.

I would never pay 600$ per night for anywhere that isnt out of the country at a resort. I never saw prices like that when I was searching, but we went during Mardi Gras and not summer…..went 4 nights for a 4 br fully loaded 3 story cabin with ping pong table, hot tub, panoramic Mountain View. Payed about 1300 through Vrbo

Been 3 times. All were family reunions, 3 generations meeting in a somewhat middle area. All were June or July so not sure what March is like as far as what’s open or not.
We’ve rented a pontoon boat each trip so the kids can tube. Ziplined, it’s small but still fun. About a 15 min drive there’s river kayaking. Putt putt, go karts are closer.
Meals have been at the cabin. The cabins are really nice or at least the one’s we’ve chosen. Easily sleep 18 or so While they aren’t cheap per night they are cheap per head. They’ve had game rooms with shuffle board, pool table and card table. Outside there’s usually cornhole, foosball and other games. Always a hot tub and firepit.

Similar experience for us as well, we went in mid-December for a long weekend and our cabin was $170/night. We went to the pizza place, a couple of the breweries, bought some steaks at the meat market, other than that we didn't really do anything in town. We did several hikes, rode some 4x4 trails in our 4Runner to go have lunch by a cool river spot, had gumbo by the fire pit, cocktails in the hot tub, coffee by the outdoor fireplace enjoying the silence and all the deer around our cabin, and really just enjoyed the peace and quiet. I'm sure summer time is a different experience but we had a great time going in the winter.

I think we’ll have a good time. It’s all what you make of it.
The wife (no pics) had already booked the cabin before I posted this.

go ahead and go now before they turn it into another Pigeon Forge/Branson. It won't be long now.
