What’s with Trump’s weird obsession over Greenland?

He could easily make DC and PR the 53rd and 54th state - but no - because of oil lobbyists in Washington- he must comply with his oil baron friends!
Heck, even Barbados or Aruba makes more sense than Greenland!
Do we really want to take on Greenlands debt? Why not just drill for oil in Alaska?

1) Just on the other side of the Arctic Ocean off of Greenland's northern coast is what country?
2) Greenland gives legal claims to Arctic waters and the minerals underneath those waters.
3) Plus, Greenland provides a naval port and air base in the North Atlantic.

Because it’s more than just oil that we’re after. Greenland has huge military importance for us. Hell, America actually conquered Greenland once when the Nazis took over Denmark and we couldn’t have the Nazis launching flights from Greenland to bomb New York, Montreal, or DC. We made an error giving it back to the Danes after WWII.
