Why shouldn’t we go after Ryan Grubb for OC?

At the Seahawks, Grubb's offense had Geno Smith setting a team record with 4,320 passing yards, and wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba having a breakout season with 1,130 yards and 100 receptions. However, the ground game was notably weak, with Seattle ranking 28th in rushing yards per gam.

At Washington, In 2022, they led the nation in passing yards per game (369.8), first downs per game, and third-down conversion percentage. They were also second in total offense and seventh in scoring. In 2023, with the team ranking second in passing yards per game (343.7) and 12th in total offense, showcasing a consistent high level of performance.

It’s the worth the conversation. Seems like we’re going all in. Sloan is good at times but a horrendous redzone play caller. Dream scenario is tell Sloan to learn under Grubb for 2 years and then see what happens

If we pursue anybody seems like Tommy Rees would be the target

-They fired him
-His offense doesnt really align with the concepts kelly likes to use
-He probably has connections to other jobs that make more sense

I think changing the offense again for Nuss would be detrimental to his expected growth & expected run to be Heisman

What established veteran outsider is going to come here to not run his own offense?

I've been wanting to make a post about this. What is Kelly's offensive philosophy? I know he is an offensive minded HC, but what is his true scheme? Do we run a spread, air raid, or some other type mix? I know we dont run pro style because we are never under the center.

I don’t see the heisman hype truly.

There's no way to really know this but I'm gonna lean against this.

1. Nuss is a 5th year senior and son of an NFL coach so I'm gonna guess that he can pick up an offense quickly.
2. Any offense that we bring in won't be a stark contrast from anything Kelly has run previously.
3. Heismans and NC's are won with upside. I think Sloans offense, namely lack of run game and red zone calls, limit the upside of this offense.
4. We're bringing in a ton of new starters on offense anyway so it may be a good time to change the offense. I think a bigger hurdle than changing offenses is developing chemistry with an all new receiving corps.
5. New OC and new starters on offense may cause us to take some lumps early but NCs and Heismans aren't won in September. I'd rather lose the clemson game if it means the offense reaches a higher upside come November. The playoff system gives you that opportunity

i don't think Grubb is the answer but we absolutely need a better OC. Sloan isnt remotely SEC caliber.

Lsu needs to get back to running the football. 130 yds per game as a team is perfect. I would like to avg 150 yds but still....this is a recepie Joe Sloan must find for success for this offense

We also need to remember that Sloan could have a big jump in year 2. Obviously just have to hope the OL doesn't make his play calling 1D.

We have an OC that did pretty damn good in his first year with a first year qb. Some of yall are ridiculous with your expectations.

Won't see a new OC this offseason but I'm hoping for a strong analyst hire

Of course it will. That’s why there will not be a change at OC.

You answered your own question. Our passing game is fine. It would be much better if Sloan figures out some running game concepts that will give us a pulse in the running game... and stop being so d@mn predictable on 1st and 2nd Down.

Not having a respectable running game is not Championship level football. We saw that same issue this past season.
