EDIT- For you baws who don't know what this is it means "unlimited vacation" policy, as long as your work gets done.

If they met their obligations to a basic satisfactory level.

Not blowing it out of the water but also not missing deadlines or goals. Just being average and getting the work done.

6 weeks? 8 weeks? 10 Weeks?

Where is the limit in your opinion?

Oh...yeah and all you "factory baws" who work hourly need not reply.

They probably take less time than you spend on here.

3-4 weeks

Being average keeps you employed, but doesn’t earn you perks like 2 months of vacation time

People who spend 6 hours a day posting on social media will tell you that simply meeting goals and never missing a deadline is lazy and entitled.

6 weeks vacation after 3 years employment

2 weeks personal sick
2 weeks family sick with note

2 months of banked vacation can be rolled.

Do whatever you can afford. If you suck, you'll be replaced with a jeet.

At my plant if you try to take a day off they call it “gaycation” and everybody gives you shite for it. The only acceptable reason for time off is hunting and you have to bring what you kill to the unit and cook it to be excused

Managers must hate these policies as they remove a fake metric for them to use against labor, as evidenced by your desire to ask how much is too much.

It is pretty easy to know if a person is working and delivering the results required—How much time they spend on it is irrelevant

So why even require the employee to request vacation?

So they hit the standard that you base their pay off? Do you pay them/incentivize them to go above and beyond the standard? If they’re hitting the baseline and either you’re not incentivizing them for more or if they’re hitting just are satisfied with the agreed upon standard pay package then I don’t see the problem

All of my employees have unlimited time off. They also get a trip incentive each year where if they hit goals they get to go on a trip of their choice all expenses paid.

Unlimited PTO can often lead to people taking less time off, the ones who abuse it are obvious and have other performance issues that would lead to termination before excessive PtO became a problem

This board today...Paternity Leave and Vacation Days.

I trust that when the shite hits the fan, leave, vacation, or not, the baws and bawettes on my team will pick up the phone. Even if it's just to give some additional background into a situation for another team member who is covering for them.

They have yet to let me or each other down.

We have that policy and I just approved a 2 week vacation with an extra quasi-work/vacation week for one of my associates who is going to see her grandparents overseas. She's a great worker and hasn't asked for any other real time off in the last 1.5 years so happily did it.

Anything over 2 full weeks straight at a time for something that isn't maternity leave or health issue I would have serious qualms about I think.

The reality that I’ve learned in nearly 20 years of white collar work is that your company will find a way to get rid of you if you’re a problem. Even if you’re “within policy”.

Might take a while, but if you’re a PITA consistently enough and long enough, you’ll end up on the next layoff list sooner or later.

As a manager, if you’re an outlier in that regard, I’d just document everything and wait.

This, BTW, is why everyone should hate unlimited vacation policies. It’s an ambiguous nightmare.

What if it's to attend a MAGA Rally?
Or to interrupt a Greenpeace protest?
